Hearing that made Cecily's vision go black.

She looked around, trying to find Natalie, but Natalie was already long gone.

Inside the hospital room.

Gardenia's hand gently pressed against the blanket. "Hassan, why did you unbuckle your seatbelt to save me at the very last second?"

Her voice was frantic. "Did you know... when I found out you were financially sponsoring Adrian, I was actually so happy. After I came back to the country, I kept suppressing my love for you, because I knew I couldn't love a married man. I told myself that whatever regrets we had were in the past. I just wanted to work hard and fulfill my dreams."

Gardenia's voice broke, trembling with emotion. "But... right when the crash happened, I regretted it so much. Were we really just going to miss out on each other for the rest of our lives? You instinctively risked your life to save me. You love me too, don't you? You're always so cold to everyone, and sometimes I couldn't even figure out how you truly felt about me. But in that moment, I knew for sure. You love me."

Gardenia gripped the blanket tightly, biting her lip, her voice softening. "After you and Natalie divorce, let's be together."

She pulled the blanket slightly, her gaze falling on his exposed profile. His eyes were gently closed, his long lashes resting quietly against his skin. His brows were dark and sharply drawn, his nose bridge high and distinct. His sculpted face looked calm and serene, carrying that familiar air of untouchable distance.

Back in high school, he had been the most popular guy in school. Gardenia would always hear the girls talking about him in the dorms and the classrooms.

At the time, they hadn't even spoken, but naturally, Gardenia had developed a quiet, innocent crush on such an outstanding boy.

Later, they ended up at the same university. She auditioned for his tech start-up team and successfully became a member.

Back then, Gardenia was the only girl on the team. They fought side-by-side. Gardenia was also the only girl in the entire university who interacted with Hassan regularly.

Everyone said they were a perfect match.

But Gardenia was painfully aware of the massive gap between their family backgrounds. It was impossible for them.

Hassan was aloof by nature, and she never believed he would rebel against his powerful family just for her.

So when Natalie told her that Hassan had taken a brutal beating from his family—enduring severe discipline just to be with her—Gardenia was genuinely shocked.

She had never imagined Hassan was silently doing so much for her behind the scenes.

But she held back then. Hassan had never spoken a word of romance to her, and she had never confessed either.
