Natalie walked over to the dining table and sat down, gently massaging her temples. "I do sleep every day. I just don't know why, but I haven't been getting any real rest lately."

Nancy hugged her affectionately. "No wonder I've been sleeping like a rock. You must have transferred all your insomnia to me."

Natalie smiled and lightly smacked her arm. "Oh, stop it."

Nancy scooped a bowl of soup for her. "Jokes aside, take care of yourself. Eat up, and then go straight to bed for a nap, hear me?"

"Yeah."

As Natalie answered, the memory of what happened at the hospital forcefully invaded her mind again, Zeke's voice echoing as if he were right beside her.

"Eat up. What are you spacing out about?" Nancy asked.

Natalie suddenly remembered something. "I need to call Cora Vance."

"Call Cora? You two seem to be getting awfully close lately," Nancy noted, giving her a curious look.

Natalie's grip on her fork paused for a fraction of a second. "Are we?"

Nancy cut straight to the chase. "What are you two up to?"

Natalie kept her eyes glued to her plate, picking up a piece of food. "Just trying to help her out. Which, in a way, is helping myself."

Chewing thoughtfully, she offered a smile. "You roasted this asparagus perfectly today. So crispy."

Nancy stared at her deadpan. "Nice subject change."

Natalie bit the end of her fork. "It's not that I don't want to tell you. Cora just asked me to keep it a secret. Maybe I can tell you down the line."

Cora wanted a divorce. If word leaked to the Vance family too soon, it would be a complete disaster, so the fewer people who knew, the better.

It wasn't that Natalie didn't trust Nancy; she had simply given Cora her word.

Nancy nodded slowly. "Got it. I won't pry."

After lunch, Natalie slept all the way until past two in the afternoon. She woke up rubbing her heavy head.

Checking her phone, she saw a message from Gardenia sent an hour ago, asking to meet at a coffee shop.

Natalie replied that she wasn't going.

Gardenia: [I want to talk to you.]

Natalie: [We have nothing to talk about.]
