Natalie stood up, walked over, and pulled out the medical kit. "What does the proposal have to do with this?"
Hassan undid the top button of his shirt with one hand, leaning back against the sofa. "Nothing. But I need to apply my medicine."
She watched as he effortlessly unbuttoned his shirt all the way, exposing the sharp, defined lines of his abs.
His stomach was lean and sculpted, not overly bulky, but tightly woven with the kind of sleek, proportionate muscle that only came from years of relentless discipline. Every line radiated a quiet, restrained power.
He cast a sidelong glance at her. "Come here. Help me."
He added, "I need it on my back."
"Why should I help you?" Natalie narrowed her eyes at him.
His eyes were pitch black, the outer corners naturally curving slightly upward. When he narrowed them like this, it almost felt like he was flirting. But the frigid aura radiating from him completely erased any romantic tension, replacing it with an untouchable, commanding presence.
His Adam's apple bobbed as he spoke flatly. "Don't you want to hear the feedback on your project?"
Without waiting for an answer, he casually turned around.
Natalie walked over and took the small jar of ointment from his hand.
The porcelain container was already warm from his grip. She rubbed her thumb over the slick, slightly cool surface.
She pulled his shirt down from his shoulders, exposing a wide expanse of pale, heavily muscled skin.
His shoulders were incredibly broad, the muscles tapering perfectly toward the center, leaving a faint indentation along his spine that trailed all the way down to his waist.
There wasn't a single scratch on him.
"Are you out of your mind?" she snapped, tossing the jar onto the sofa.
Hassan let out a cold scoff. "You watched the dashcam footage, didn't you? You should have already known my back was perfectly fine. Is your memory failing you lately?"
When the crash happened, Hassan had shielded Gardenia by wrapping himself around her front, turning his back to the impact.
Natalie frowned. "Did Yale tell you I watched it?"
"I guessed."
Once again, Natalie felt that irritating sensation of being completely read by him. "Oh really? Then guess what I'm thinking right now."
She looked down at him, a mocking smile playing at the corners of her eyes.
He didn't miss a beat. "You're cursing me out."
Instantly losing any desire to banter, Natalie sat down across from him. "Are you done reading? Just tell me what the issues are so I can go report back."
Hassan picked up the file again, his thumb brushing over the edge of the paper. A faint, almost imperceptible smirk touched his lips. "I'm done reading. But I'm going to discuss these issues with Jude directly. Take me to him."
Seeing that he took the bait, Natalie smiled brightly. "Sure."
That evening, the three of them met at The Springfall.
With Jude around, silence was impossible. He had ordered a whole troupe of private cabaret dancers.
The moment Natalie walked in, she was greeted by the sight of women in extravagant costumes twirling around while someone played the violin. The entire setup was blindingly flashy.
