Natalie was momentarily stunned.

Did he ask her to come over because he remembered what they had talked about back then?

Not wanting to overthink it, she looked at the man in front of her. "Did you call me out just to see this?"

Hassan looked up slightly and drawled, "Just to let you catch a chill in the wind."

Natalie reached out, watching a firefly land on her palm.

With a gentle movement of her hand, the firefly fluttered away cheerfully.

Glancing around, she noticed that Adrian was actually on the other side.

It was just that the lighting was so dim she hadn't seen him at first.

Her mood instantly plummeted to rock bottom.

She pulled out her phone, snapped a few pictures, and recorded a video to send to Nancy.

[You've never seen this many fireflies, have you? I'll bring you here next time.]

Surprisingly, Nancy replied: [That's not even a lot of fireflies. I know a place where there are tons of them as soon as night falls.]

Natalie smiled: [Then you'll have to take me there next time.]

It took a while for Nancy to reply: [Sure, I just hope there'll still be that many fireflies by the time we go.]

After texting Nancy, Natalie didn't linger. She bypassed the two of them and headed straight back.

Back in her room, she lay in bed, the beautiful scene replaying in her mind.

As she thought about it, a sudden burst of inspiration for her research struck her. She went online to look up some papers and didn't fall asleep until very late.

The next morning, the monastery's breakfast was incredibly simple—just plain oatmeal and toast.

If you missed the mealtime, there was no breakfast to be had.

Natalie had stayed up so late that she simply couldn't get out of bed. In the end, Hassan had to drag her up.

It wasn't that she had terrible morning crankiness; she was purely annoyed by Hassan and had accidentally scratched the back of his hand with her nails.

At breakfast, Cecily noticed the red scratch marks on Hassan's hand.
