Natalie pulled her leg back and shoved him away. "Don't touch me."

Hassan's gaze was dark, his tone indifferent. "If you don't massage it, you're going to feel even worse later."

Natalie let out a cold laugh. "Even if I feel worse, I don't need your fake kindness. Let go of me."

Hassan set the bottle of essential oil aside. "Massaging with this will make it feel better."

Natalie closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, they were blazing with anger. "Hassan, are you out of your mind?"

She finally couldn't hold back anymore. Thinking about everything that had happened recently, this man's constant back-and-forth—did a couple on the verge of divorce need this kind of care?

"Hassan, what exactly do you want?"

"You're going to be in pain tomorrow," was all he said.

"And so what! Even if I am in pain, what does it have to do with you? Are you sick in the head?"

Hassan glanced at the bottle of oil, leaving it behind as he stood up. "Yes, I am."

He turned to leave, but Natalie called out to him, "Give me a straight answer, or just don't show your face in front of me ever again."

"Natalie, what do you take our marriage for?" he asked flatly.

Natalie found it ridiculous. "You ask what I take our marriage for? What have you done? Everyone in our circle knows about you and Gardenia now. Do you think there's anyone left who's blind to it?"

"Natalie." The man's breathing grew heavy, his chest rising and falling. The way he looked at her was profoundly deep, steeped in restraint.

He stepped closer, wanting to pull her into his arms just like he used to.

But Natalie pushed him away.
