Natalie froze for a moment, completely unaware of any of this.

But she also refused to believe it.

Hassan had endured a brutal beating from his family back then just for the sake of marrying Gardenia, so how could he have been that thrilled about marrying her? He was always so impossible to read.

"He's professional. He wouldn't let his personal emotions interfere with work, so you can relax," she finally replied.

Hearing that, Kyle assumed she was confirming the rumors. "So you're actually getting a divorce? But why? Weren't you head over heels for him? I remember whenever we had team dinners, you'd constantly call to check up on him. You even used to deliver his meals personally. You guys were so in love."

Natalie chuckled softly. "In love? That was all just me putting in the effort. Where was the love in that?"

Kyle stopped. "It wasn't one-sided. The boss used to ditch our dinners halfway through all the time because of you. Plus, during meetings, you were the only one whose calls he'd ever pick up."

Her hand paused on the documents, and she raised her eyes to look at him. "Why don't you mention everything he's done for Gardenia, then? Even if he had a tiny bit of affection for me, what about his feelings for her? Would you accept your girlfriend treating someone else better than she treats you?"

Even though Kyle was chronically single, he completely understood where she was coming from.

It was like when a friend came over, and his cat was friendlier to the guest than to him—it drove him crazy. Well, anyone except for that one specific person, of course.

Kyle sighed. "But I've never seen the boss act overly good or intimate with that woman. The only time I've actually caught him being affectionate was when you two were holding hands and kissing."

"What are you talking about?" She shot him a sideways glance. "When did that ever happen?"

"At the office! When you brought him lunch. You guys didn't even close the door, and the boss was in there kissing you." Kyle grinned. "I accidentally saw it when I came looking for him."

"That was probably ancient history," Natalie said absentmindedly.

She gathered the files together. "Alright, thanks for this. Enjoy your meal, I need to head back."

She needed to hurry and show all of this to Nancy Gaines.

"You're not eating? The food hasn't even all come out yet." Kyle grabbed her arm. "Besides, I've got something else to tell you."
