"Gideon Lennox," Hassan murmured, his lips barely parting. A dark, ruthless glint surfaced in his eyes at the sound of the name.
Natalie grabbed his sleeve tightly. "Do you know him?"
The man met her tear-filled, desperate gaze, his heart tightening. He raised a hand and gently wiped a tear from the corner of her eye. "I told you to stay away from Nancy, didn't I?"
"Stop saying things like that! I'm not leaving her," she snapped, refusing to let go of his sleeve. "You definitely know him, don't you? Help me find him. I know Nancy is with him right now..."
Natalie paused, a sudden realization hitting her. She quickly pulled out her phone and called Professor Adler. "Professor, can you get in touch with Gideon right now?"
"Huh? You guys all left halfway through lunch. I thought you left together. Hold on, let me shoot him a text."
"Okay, thank you, Professor."
A moment later, the professor relayed the message: "Gideon says he's at Cypress Lake. Are you going to meet him?"
Natalie's heart clenched. "Yes, I am. Thank you, Professor. I have to go."
She turned to rush out the door, but Hassan caught her arm. "You don't even know who this guy is. Kyle should have warned you he's dangerous. You're just going to walk right into this?"
"I have to. He definitely took Nancy."
Hassan's grip tightened slightly. "He gave you a location. He might want to negotiate, or he might want to hurt you."
He pulled out his phone. "I'm calling in some people to go with you."
Natalie didn't refuse; she knew she needed backup.
She didn't even know if she could get Nancy back.
She had yet to experience Gideon's cruelty firsthand, but seeing Nancy's sheer terror told her exactly how dangerous the man was.
Hassan had Zeke assemble dozens of bodyguards before they set off for Cypress Lake.
The lake was located in a remote suburb, a solid three-hour drive from the city center.
