Natalie was slightly taken aback.

So Hassan telling her she didn't need to go through him was a last-minute decision?

She thought back to his question about Finn.

Was he actually genuinely pissed off about that?

Sure enough, all men were exactly the same. They were literally getting divorced, and he was still hung up on something like that.

"He changed his mind. From now on, just contact me directly."

The man didn't argue further. "Understood."

Nancy waited for her to hang up before speaking. "Were you handling that thing with your grandfather just now? Didn't your grandma take the card?"

"I memorized the number."

"Still," Nancy mused, "don't you think your grandma's reaction to all this was a little weird?"

Natalie frowned. "She did seem overly anxious."

She touched her face again, pulling down the sun visor to look in the mirror. "Have I really lost that much weight? She looked so worried."

Nancy shot her a glance. "Not really. I hadn't noticed at all."

"Maybe it's just because you see me every day?"

The moment the words left Natalie's mouth, there was a loud bang as their car violently jolted forward.

They both whipped their heads around to look outside and saw a white sedan glued to their bumper.

The two of them hurriedly stepped out of the vehicle.

The driver of the other car stepped out as well. It was a woman.

Natalie froze. The woman was already smiling at her. "Natalie."

It was Joelle Nash.
