Natalie pressed her lips together tightly.

Joelle, who had just claimed it wasn't appropriate, instantly hit the speakerphone button.

Cecily’s authoritative voice boomed from the device. "Natalie, you were perfectly fine during dinner, but the moment you're out in public, you turn into an absolute shrew."

Natalie ground her teeth. "That's right, I'm a shrew!"

"You!" The old woman was so angry she could barely speak. "You leave Joelle alone! Be a shrew if you want, but don't direct it at her!"

Natalie laughed out of sheer disbelief. "Your precious Joelle is the one who provoked me. I don't even want to waste my breath talking about her."

She ended the call herself, staring dead at Joelle. "Your tricks haven't changed a bit, have they? Still working so hard to maintain that perfect image."

Joelle smiled faintly. "I have no idea what you mean."

She slipped her phone back into her designer bag. "My assistant will contact you to handle the insurance."

Her goal had been achieved; there was no reason to stick around.

Joelle knew that one of the major obstacles preventing Hassan and Natalie’s divorce was Cecily.

Even though the old woman had opposed their marriage in the beginning, she was highly traditional and cared deeply about the family's reputation, which a divorce would tarnish.

Moreover, Natalie had played the role of Mrs. Carlson flawlessly over the years. Aside from a few minor quirks, she was virtually unassailable in the elders' eyes.

Joelle knew she had to destroy Natalie's reputation with Cecily.

Dealing with Natalie herself was the easy part.

But Natalie stepped directly into her path, blocking her. "Did I say I agreed to settle this privately? I already called the cops."

Even if it inconvenienced herself, she was absolutely going to make this a headache for Joelle.

Joelle stopped and looked at her. "I thought you had matured over the years. I guess not."

She gave a dismissive nod. "Fine. Call the police. I'll wait."

Nancy had already dialed emergency services while standing to the side.
