Augustus seemed disconnected from household affairs, but given his vast connections, he was always the first to know anything within the Carlson family.

He knew she was divorcing Hassan.

In his eyes, Hassan had committed an incredibly stupid act, damaging the family's interests for the sake of an outsider.

By the time the doctors finished bandaging him and cleaning up, Hassan had either fallen asleep or passed out from the pain.

Natalie walked over to the bed, pulled up a chair, and sat down. She stared at his deeply furrowed brow and trembling eyelashes as he slept. Sweat rolled down his forehead, dampening his lashes, making them look as if they were coated in tears.

She raised her hand, her fingers hovering in the air for a few seconds, but ultimately, she pulled away without doing a thing.

The sun slowly dipped below the horizon, the intense light spilling across the floor softening into a dim glow.

He was gently awakened by a maid carrying a bowl of plain porridge.

His voice was completely hoarse. "My phone..."

The maid paused, set the bowl down on a nearby table, and handed him his phone.

"Just put the porridge where I can reach it and get out."

Hassan unlocked his phone, only to realize there was no signal. He looked up at the maid.

"Mr. Carlson ordered you to spend the next three days reflecting on your actions. You don't need to do anything. He will temporarily distribute the corporate work among the other young masters, and they'll bring the finalized reports here for your review."

Hassan tossed his phone aside with a dismissive grunt, then asked, "Just me?"

The maid didn't quite understand. "You have caretakers and doctors here for you. Oh, did you want to request someone specific?"

She thought for a moment before speaking bluntly, "I figure anyone who actually wants to take care of you would just come on their own."

Hassan was completely speechless.

Once she left, he reached out for the bowl of porridge. Just a slight movement sent a searing spike of pain shooting across his back.
