Her memories of Yale were incredibly sparse. Given how close he was with Hassan, it didn't make sense that she had only seen him a handful of times in all these years.
"Are you a doctor?"
He smiled. "I'm a clinical hypnotherapist. It was really late last night, so I just brought you straight to my clinic."
"Oh."
Natalie unlocked her phone.
There wasn't a single message from Hassan.
He was probably busy picking out his next Mrs. Carlson right about now.
She scrolled down and saw a social media post Gardenia had uploaded last night.
Hassan had given Yvonne's old house to Gardenia. She and Adrian had officially moved in, and Hassan had gone over personally to help them get settled.
It was hilariously tragic.
While she was paralyzed on a bed being threatened with sexual assault, he was playing house and helping another woman move.
Natalie finished her soup and sat up. She looked at him directly. "Thank you. What can I do to repay you?"
She knew the men in Hassan's circle lacked nothing, especially money. She had no idea what she could possibly offer him.
"Nothing. I'm just glad you're safe." He turned slightly, organizing some vials on his desk. "If you're feeling fine, you can leave. I hope you never have to come back here."
Natalie stared at him, a bit bewildered. "You always seem like you can't wait to get away from me."
She had assumed he despised her, yet he had gone out of his way to save her.
Yale let out a soft laugh. "What doctor actually wants to see their patients?"
He snapped his fingers with a grin. "A doctor's ultimate dream is for there to be zero patients left in the world. Go home."
Natalie nodded and walked out, her mind wandering.
The first thing she did was call her lawyer to ask about Lyndon's case.
The lawyer sounded absolutely thrilled. "I don't know what happened, but the paperwork got pushed through at lightning speed. Lyndon was sentenced to ten years in federal prison. They hauled him off last night."
She stopped in her tracks. "That fast? Who did it?"
"I have no idea. Who do you know that has that kind of pull?"
Her first thought was Hassan, but she instantly dismissed it. There was zero chance he would do that for her.
Jacob Holt certainly wouldn't have done it either.
Could it have been Yale?
Natalie rubbed her temples. It had to be him.
Through the crack, she heard Gardenia greeting Marvin and Professor Adler.
"Professor Adler, I actually had a few questions I was hoping to ask you. Do you have some time?"
Marvin interjected smoothly, "The Professor is extremely busy today."
Professor Adler nodded. "Yes, perhaps another day."
Gardenia's gaze flickered between them before she asked, "By the way, who is 'Seven,' the one who took first place at the Expo? I'd really love to meet her."
"She isn't here," Marvin replied quickly. "She hates going out. Stays cooped up in the lab all day. I think I mentioned that to you before."
Gardenia nodded, feigning disappointment. "What a shame."
Hassan suddenly spoke up from the side. "Let's treat her to a meal next time."
Marvin nodded stiffly. "Sure."
He quickly lowered his head, terrified of making eye contact with Hassan, afraid he might give something away.
Fortunately, Hassan wasn't paying much attention to him. Marvin knew Hassan was completely obsessed with finding 'H' right now, so he didn't care much about the name 'Seven.'
"Let's go. Time to head back," Hassan said, looking at Gardenia.
Gardenia looked up at him, her voice soft. "You look like you didn't sleep well last night. Do you want to take a nap?"
