The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 181

Her lips trembled as she stared at the dense text on the page, muttering to herself in a daze.

“Jamie, this is impossible. They’re yours. The babies are yours. There must… there must have been a mistake somewhere. There has to be.”

Suzie repeated the words over and over, her gaze flickering toward Jamie. But every time she looked, his eyes felt like sharp needles stabbing repeatedly into her heart. He watched her without moving, his expression like he was staring at a criminal on death row whom he utterly despised.

Suzie’s lips quivered as her eyes returned to the document. She fought to suppress the overwhelming unease and the terror his words had ignited within her.

She couldn’t understand how the results could be this way. He had hired the professionals himself, so there shouldn't have been an error. Why on earth would it show no paternal match?!

As her gaze darted between him and the papers, she saw him turn and start walking toward the door. A wave of panic washed over her.

He had said it! He said he was going to get rid of her babies!

This madman… he was truly capable of anything.

With that thought, Suzie scrambled in front of him, blocking his path. Her voice shook as she pleaded, “...Jamie, this isn’t real. The results are wrong! I’m not asking you to believe me, but you can’t hurt my children!”

Her trembling voice was laced with a distinct hoarseness. She was trying to deliver a warning, but her low tone made it sound more like a desperate plea.

Jamie slowly came to a halt, his narrowed eyes, sharp as blades, looking down at her. “Suzie, people can lie,” he said coldly. “Science can’t.”

With that, he raised his elbow and shoved her aside without a second thought.

But Jamie seemed to have made up his mind. He released the doorknob and silently began to pry her fingers off his jacket, one by one.

As he freed one of her hands, she immediately used the other to clutch at his clothes again. The hopelessly wrinkled shirt felt like a lifeline to her. It was as if the moment she let go, bodyguards would burst through the door and drag her to the operating table.

He would do it! He was capable of anything!

“Jamie…” Suzie sobbed his name, her voice breaking.

In just a short time, her eyes had already become red and swollen from crying.
