The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 182

Jamie’s hands slowly stopped moving.

He stiffly closed the door again.

Sensing the shift, Suzie thought there might be room for negotiation and a flicker of hope ignited in her heart.

She quickly wiped away her tears and softened her tone, speaking gently. “Let’s do the DNA test again. Please, have your people do it one more time. It was wrong… I can swear to you, I have never done anything to betray you.”

Her voice grew more and more desperate. At this moment, she was utterly alone here. There was no one to help her. Even if Richard were here, showing him a report like this would only make him deeply disappointed in her. Her only option now was to beg Jamie to spare her children.

But the look in Jamie’s eyes didn’t change. In fact, the coldness and resolve in their depths were even stronger than before. His voice, at some point, had become unusually hoarse. “Suzie, take a look at this.”

At his words, she nervously looked up at him. He was pulling a stack of something wrapped in paper from his pants pocket.

From his expression, it was as if he held a secret that would seal her fate.

Suzie’s heart began to pound uncontrollably, her eyes filled with a mix of confusion and tension.

As Jamie’s fingertips pinched the outer wrapping, her gaze followed his hand, transfixed.

Then, in the midst of his slow movements, she suddenly noticed that his hand was shaking, too.

It trembled just as much as hers.

What… what was in there?

As she held her breath, staring intently, Jamie’s icy voice spoke again. “Open it.”

His tone carried an undeniable force. As he finished speaking, he thrust the object into her hands.

Finally, Suzie reached the last photograph. When she saw the woman’s face clearly…

Her hand jerked violently, and all the photos slipped from her grasp, scattering across the floor.

“They’ve been authenticated. These are original, unedited photos. Did you get a good look?” Jamie asked coldly as he crouched down.

He slowly gathered the photos, then straightened up again, each movement seeming to carry an immense weight.

But Suzie was like a ghost, her soul having fled her body. Her expression shifted from incredulous shock to a vacant stare.

Jamie selected the photo that revealed the woman’s face and held it up in front of her.

He grabbed her chin with his large hand, forcing her tear-streaked face up to meet his blurry gaze.
