Jamie’s terrifyingly calm voice filled Suzie's ears once more.
“You see, there’s even a timestamp in the bottom right corner. A few months ago… before our divorce…”
Suzie trembled all over as she looked at him. Jamie slowly pointed to her stomach and added, “The timing seems to align perfectly with when *they* came to be…”
Suzie shook her head frantically, crying out, “No, that’s not me! I didn’t do it, I never…”
Before she could finish, Jamie tightened his grip, clamping her jaw more firmly.
He leaned in close, his face almost touching hers, and gently caressed her cheek with the back of his other hand.
Then, a voice like a demon from hell whispered into her ear, “Suzie, tell me. Who is the man on top of you in this picture? Hmm?”
Tears streamed down Suzie’s face, unstoppable. She wasn’t that woman. How could she possibly know the identity of the man whose face was hidden?
She struggled with all her might to break free from his grasp, but it was useless. Her lips moved as she forced out the words, “I don’t know. It’s not me, it’s not me! You’re the only man I’ve ever been with! I didn’t do it!”
Jamie clenched his jaw, a cruel amusement glinting in his eyes. “Is that so? Then you tell me, who is this woman who looks exactly like you?”
As he spoke, he held her chin in a punishing grip.
He roughly shoved her against the wall, making it impossible for her to escape his gaze.
Forced back, Suzie stared at the woman in the photo, at her flirtatious expression. Her heart was filled with utter shock and agony.
From the hairstyle to the face, down to every minute detail…
Seeing her so utterly defeated, Jamie was certain he was witnessing the collapse of a criminal who had refused to confess until confronted with undeniable proof.
He let out a cold snort and questioned her sharply, “What’s the matter? Finally ready to give up the act now that you’re cornered?”
He leaned closer again, his hawk-like gaze fixed on her.
Suzie lifted her weary eyes, her gaze hollow and vacant as she looked at him.
Jamie’s bloodshot eyes scanned her face relentlessly. His expression held nothing but hatred for her.
Suddenly, Suzie laughed, a low, crazed sound that was horrifying to hear.
Jamie abruptly released her chin, only to cup her face with both hands the next second. “Why did you marry me?” he asked, his voice raw. “How could you sleep with another man, wearing that look on your face, and then come back to me and play the part of a devoted wife without batting an eye? Suzie… what is your heart made of?”
