The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 200

Suzie mulled it over. It was certainly something Margaret was capable of. When it came to money, her acting skills were on par with an Oscar-winning actress.

She wanted to ask them more, but Jamie had already reached them, with Margaret and David in tow. In front of everyone, he walked straight to Suzie, wrapped an arm around her shoulders with a look of loving concern, and said gently, “It’s hot out here. Let’s go inside.”

“Yes, yes, my son-in-law is right,” Margaret chimed in, her face beaming as she led the others into the house.

Suzie didn’t move. She waited until Margaret and the others were inside before she sharply slapped his arm off her shoulder.

Jamie let out a soft sigh, tucking one hand into his pocket as his gaze roamed her face.

“Why did you bring them here?” Suzie asked coldly. “What’s your game this time? Jamie, aren’t you tired of this?”

“Weren’t you afraid they’d be gossiping behind your back while you enjoyed a peaceful life here all alone?” he retorted casually.

“Jamie, is your company really that boring?” Suzie glared at him, having no desire to speak with him further. As she started to walk away, he suddenly grabbed her arm.

“Don’t make a scene. You’ll only embarrass yourself.”

Suzie spun around, wrenching her arm free. “Is that so? Why would I make a scene? I’d love nothing more than for Margaret to suck you dry!”

Jamie raised an eyebrow, his tone light. “You were once Mrs. Baylor. Surely you know how deep the Baylor family’s pockets are. Let her suck all she wants.”

With that, he turned and walked into the house without a backward glance.

Suzie stood at the doorway, staring into the distance. Two rows of bodyguards stood rigidly at the gate. When she left the hospital today, she had planned to resist to the very end, even if it meant being thrown in jail over the enormous debt. But then Jamie had threatened her with Stella’s future.

She could let down anyone in the world, but not Stella. So, she had to endure it, just for a little longer, while she thought of another way out. That bastard had probably used every dirty trick in his arsenal on her.

As Suzie stood there, her mind in turmoil, a large hand suddenly grasped her arm. Before she could react, Jamie was pulling her inside the house.

In the grand hall, she could see Margaret wandering around, inspecting the antique decorations. After scanning the room, Suzie’s gaze suddenly landed on Ruby.
