It was the look of a man consumed by desire for a woman.

The nerve of him. After everything that had happened, how could he still feel that way about her? Wasn't Chloe enough for him? Did he still have to covet her?

Just as Jamie raised his arm, Suzie instinctively took a few steps back. She stammered, “My… my sister might not sleep well in a new bed. I should go check on her.”

With that, Suzie quickly turned to leave. But Jamie grabbed her arm, and with a sharp tug, she stumbled backward, landing squarely in his embrace.

Suzie struggled to break free, but his arm wrapped tightly around her waist, holding her fast.

Then, Jamie’s deep, magnetic voice drifted down from above her. “Are you really not angry anymore?”

A wave of complicated emotions washed over Suzie. She stopped struggling and looked up at him, her expression polite but distant. Her tone was respectful as she replied, “I’m not angry. The fact that you let me keep my children… for that alone, I am nothing but grateful.”

At the mention of the children, Jamie’s expression darkened again. He slowly released her, his voice turning cold. “Go, then. I’ll be busy all day tomorrow and won’t be back at the Baylor Manor. You’d best be on your best behavior.”

Putting on a show of obedience, Suzie nodded eagerly. Once she was out the door and saw Jamie leave as well, she finally let out a sigh of relief.

“You have no idea, Suzie,” Ruby continued. “When I was studying abroad, some of the super-rich students looked down on me so much. They’d mock me for wearing the same few outfits all the time. I’m going to post this on my feed and show them.”

Suzie’s steps faltered. She paused for a moment before saying softly, “How about this, Ruby? Jamie is busy and won’t be back today. You stay here and look around, and I’ll bring your phone up to you in a bit. Over the next few days, how about I help you take a full lifestyle photoshoot?”

Ruby frowned, confused. “What do you mean, a ‘full lifestyle photoshoot’?”

Suzie smiled and explained, “I mean, from your meals and morning routine to when you go to bed—I’ll even get shots of the maids waiting on you. It’ll give you plenty to show off. And if Jamie’s in a good mood, we could even go shopping and get some pictures of that. What do you think?”
