Inside her office, Suzie was on the phone with Hayden.

“Hayden, did the school enrollment for the kids go smoothly?”

“Perfectly,” Hayden replied from the other end. “By the way, I’m free this afternoon. How about we go pick out a van for taking the kids to and from school? I’ll handle the registration, as usual.”

Suzie paused. “Let’s talk about it when you get back.”

“Alright, I’ll be at the studio in half an hour.”

The call had just ended when Mia knocked and entered with a cup of coffee.

“Your coffee, Suzie.”

Suzie offered a warm smile. “How are you settling in here, Mia? Getting used to it?”

“Of course! I knew following you was the right move,” Mia answered cheerfully.

“Enough with the flattery. Is your work done?” Suzie teased.

“All done, all done. It’s just…” Mia said, walking over to lock the office door before continuing, “There’s someone in the reception area who’s been here all morning. I heard he’s from Starlight Entertainment.”

Mia’s last words were spoken cautiously. Suzie had brought her to Timefly Studio as soon as she was established, but she never mentioned Jamie. It was only because the man’s name had come up that Mia dared to bring it up, but she watched Suzie’s expression carefully and saw no change.

“I see. Go wait for Mr. Wycliffe at the reception desk. And make sure you tell him immediately to reject Starlight Entertainment again. Say I said so,” Suzie instructed, typing away at her keyboard.

Mia nodded. “Okay. Suzie, every major decision you make elevates this studio. If I were Mr. Wycliffe, I’d listen to you too.”

“Am I really that impressive?” Suzie countered. “If you hadn’t come up with that creative photoshoot and posted those adorable pictures of the kids online, they wouldn’t be so popular right now.”

Mia laughed, a little embarrassed. “Well, you taught me everything I know. Besides, the ‘Sugar Buddies’ are only successful today because you have the most beautiful, intelligent children. Anyone who sees them is filled with envy.”
