A cold chill raced down Suzie's spine. She desperately wanted to video call Mia, but feared interrupting her if she was in a tough spot.

Suzie locked her eyes back on the television screen, her heart hammering with anxiety as she studied the footage.

Richard had thinned out considerably over the years they had been apart.

Yet, in the video, he looked vibrant and full of life. The way he gazed at the kids was overflowing with pure, unconditional adoration.

Suzie tightened her grip on her phone. After an agonizing moment of hesitation, she typed out a text to Mia.

"That older gentleman is Jamie's grandfather. What is he doing at the commercial shoot?"

Mia's reply came through almost instantly.

"Suzie, it's not just him. Jamie is here too. He's met me before, back when I bailed you out of the precinct. He'll definitely recognize me. I'm currently hiding in the green room. As soon as Mr. Wycliffe gets here, I'm making a run for it."

Staring at the message, Suzie's pulse shifted into a frantic, chaotic rhythm.

Jamie had shown up at the set and brought Richard along. Did that mean he already knew the truth?

Panicking, Suzie immediately dialed Hayden's number.

"Hayden, did Mia fill you in?"

"Yeah, I'm almost at the set," Hayden replied calmly. "Don't panic. I already figured out why they're here. The patriarch of the Baylor family just took a liking to the kids and wanted to visit them. I made sure to add ironclad clauses when we signed the contract."

Wanting to soothe her frayed nerves, Hayden elaborated.

"I just pulled into the parking lot. Suzie, remember this: you can't outrun some things forever. Facing the problem head-on and resolving it is the only way forward. Prepare yourself for the possibility that he could discover the truth at any second. I know you're strong enough to handle this. I've got to go in now. Talk soon."

After the call ended, Suzie pushed herself off the sofa and began pacing the living room floor.

Richard's sudden involvement was a wild card. Once he bonded with the kids, it was inevitable he would ask innocent questions about their parents.

Factor in how much Zoey looked like Jamie as a child, and how the two boys inherited so much of her own face...

This collision of their worlds felt entirely too sudden.
