The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 349

Thomas babbled on about the surgical requirements, but Suzie had completely stopped listening.

She nodded repeatedly. "Mhm, I've already shared most of my experience with her. She's completely fine with it."

With that, Suzie headed toward the door, speaking with polite finality,

"Dr. Thomas, I've taken up enough of your time today. I'll let you get back to work. I'll call you tonight to schedule an exact time, and then I'll bring my friend over to meet you."

Thomas hurried out after her,

"Perfect, perfect. Ms. Baird, if you don't have any other plans, let me buy you both dinner tonight."

"No, thank you. I have some pressing matters to attend to. I'll treat you another time."

...

Back in the car.

Chester sat in the passenger seat, his elbow resting on the window frame, watching Suzie with a wide grin,

"I've got to say, it's incredibly rare to find a woman with both your looks and your brains."

Suzie started the engine and replied coolly,

"There are plenty. The women in your circle are probably just idiots."

Chester was momentarily speechless.

Wow, she really just used people and tossed them aside, didn't she?

He couldn't help but wonder if she was a true femme fatale.

Chester muttered to himself, but he still couldn't pull his eyes away from Suzie's striking profile.

The stunt she pulled today had genuinely impressed him.

"Where to? I'll drop you off," Suzie said evenly.

Mia's frantic voice came through the speaker. "It's Mr. Wycliffe. The Baylor Group is suing him. I have the lawsuit right here in my hands..."

"I'm on my way!" Hearing this, Suzie immediately hung up and shifted into gear. "Mr. Lambert, I have an emergency today. Next week. I'll buy you dinner next week."

Seeing the color drain from Suzie's face, Chester realized something major must have happened at her studio. His previously lazy demeanor vanished, replaced by sudden seriousness,

"Drive. I'll come with you. Maybe I can help."

Suzie's mind raced. What Mia just said proved that Jamie had finally made his move!

Whether Jamie was retaliating because he couldn't handle that she had hidden from him for years, or for some other twisted reason.

Targeting Hayden meant he was coming directly for her.

For the lawsuit to be drafted and delivered this quickly, Jamie had clearly been planning this for a while.

Suzie's peripheral vision involuntarily darted to the man sitting beside her.
