The photos on her screen were the very same ones Jamie had tortured her with years ago. Suzanne's sex tape screenshots.
Seeing Suzie's icy glare, Chester coughed violently to cover his embarrassment. "Slip of the tongue! I absolutely didn't mean any disrespect. I sincerely apologize."
He watched her tight expression carefully, letting out a breath only when she didn't throw him out of the office.
Desperate to change the subject, he pointed at the phone. "Okay, back to business. No, that's not me. How do you even have those? When were they taken?" He stood up, turning his back to her and flexing a little. "Look at my triceps! The guy in that picture doesn't have half my definition. I can take my shirt off if you need to compare."
Suzie waved him off, thoroughly unimpressed. "A friend sent them. Did you look at the timestamp in the corner?"
Chester reached for the phone again, and Suzie let him take it. When he zoomed in on the date, his jaw clenched so hard his teeth ground together.
It was the exact month Suzanne had begged him for a sports car.
He might not remember the exact day, but he remembered the month. That manipulative bitch.
He had been courting her, promising to buy her a luxury car. She had kissed him, thrillingly agreed to be his girlfriend. He had even asked his parents for the cash, but before the funds cleared, she had thrown a fit. And apparently, she'd immediately hopped into someone else's bed.
He had been entirely clueless.
When they pulled up to the café, Aaron was already waiting by the entrance, scanning the incoming cars. The moment he spotted Suzie stepping out, he hurried down the steps, bowing his head respectfully.
"Ms. Sterling. Right this way."
Suzie gave a curt nod, keeping her mouth shut. Her chest felt incredibly tight. She still hadn't figured out exactly how she was going to play this. In the corporate world, the party initiating a meeting to resolve a dispute was already at a disadvantage.
And knowing Jamie, this entire setup was designed to put her exactly where he wanted her.
