The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 386

The next day at noon.

Suzie had just picked out a stunning evening gown from Stella's closet when her phone buzzed with a text.

Stella told her to go ahead and secure an extra invitation—she was coming tonight.

Suzie immediately dialed Chester.

"Mr. Lambert..."

Before she could even finish her greeting, Chester's excited voice boomed through the speaker. "Hold on, let me guess. You're coming tonight!"

"Yes," Suzie replied simply. "Are you able to get another invitation? A friend of mine wants to tag along."

Chester hesitated for only a second. "Give me five minutes. I'll call you right back."

True to his word, his name flashed on her screen shortly after. "Got it. Is your friend a guy or a girl?"

"A girl. Thank you for this."

"Don't mention it," he said casually. "Should I pick you ladies up tonight? Send me the address."

"No need," Suzie declined politely. "We'll meet you at the entrance at seven."

After hanging up, Suzie carefully packed the dress and left Stella's apartment.

When she arrived back at Timefly Studio, she was surprised to find Hayden sitting in her office.

Seeing him instantly reminded her of Alice's covert interference, but Suzie maintained her usual warm demeanor. "Hey, Hayden. Did you eat lunch yet?"

His phone began to ring, and before Suzie could say another word, he hurried out of the office.

Suzie slowly sank into her desk chair, staring blankly ahead with a heavy expression.

A moment later, Mia jogged in with a stack of files. "Suzie, I've finished organizing everything. I told the team to keep it quiet for now. They all benefited from these projects, so no one is going to run to Mr. Wycliffe before we officially leave."

"Good. He just left. It looks like he doesn't know yet."

"Suzie... why are you suddenly leaving?" Mia finally blurted out.

She had wanted to ask yesterday, but Suzie had looked so drained that she hadn't dared. But today, the secrecy made Mia feel increasingly anxious. It felt like they were sneaking out in the dead of night.

Suzie looked up, her gaze softening as she read the worry on her assistant's face. "I'll explain the specifics to you later. But tell me... do you think I'm doing all this in secret just to pull a vanishing act?"
