"You like that color?"
Suzie had just pulled the dress off the rack when she turned around and nearly collided with Jamie, who had silently walked up behind her.
She took two quick steps back, ignoring his question. Throwing him a cold, dismissive look, she scanned the room, looking for an adjoining bathroom or closet to change in.
Jamie's gaze followed her movements. His deep voice filled the room, heavy with praise.
"It's a beautiful color. You have flawless skin; you'll look stunning in it... Like an angel. Like—"
"Are you trying to make me sick?" Suzie snapped, cutting him off. She muttered under her breath, "What is wrong with you? If you don't know how to compliment someone naturally, just keep your mouth shut."
Jamie was speechless.
He had barely gotten two words out before she shut him down. After firing off her insult, she pointedly showed him the door again.
"The exit is right there. Kindly use your legs and walk through it."
He had spent actual time trying to think of something romantic to say, and she had just dumped a bucket of ice water over his head. His expression cycled through several complex emotions before finally settling on sheer helplessness.
He had deliberately played the video of his grandfather, and she hadn't batted an eye. Downstairs, she had fiercely stood her ground against a crowd of malicious strangers...
What kind of life had she lived these past few years to turn her heart into absolute stone?
She was nothing like the soft, obedient Suzie he used to know...
And she was incredibly bold now. Who else in the world would dare call him 'sick' to his face?
By this time, Suzie had spotted a corridor deeper in the suite.
Realizing Jamie had no intention of leaving, she gave up on arguing. She would just go into the changing room, swap the dress, and get out of there.
Lost in his own chaotic thoughts, Jamie watched her disappear around the corner. Suddenly, it hit him—the dressing room connected directly to the adjacent suite.
While guests couldn't easily access these VIP rooms, hotel management and staff frequently used those adjoining doors.
