Suzie let out a soft sigh, her complicated gaze shifting between Hayden and Mia.
"They didn't mention my name anywhere in the articles," she said, her voice low. "They probably don't know who I actually am yet. If we try to go after them for spreading rumors, making a big deal out of it will only draw more attention."
Hayden looked torn, but he couldn't hold back his concerns. "Are you sure this won't impact your life? When I called you and told you to wear a hat and sunglasses, I was worried the paparazzi might have followed you home last night. If they tailed you today, they'll find out you work at Timefly Studio. Next thing you know, they're digging up the fact that you're the mother of the Sugar Buddies. It might not be a physical safety issue, but your quiet life is going to get very loud, very fast."
As Hayden spoke, Suzie's phone started buzzing relentlessly again. She flipped the silent switch.
When he finished, a wave of anxiety washed over her. She glanced through the glass walls of her office toward the bustling bullpen outside. "What about... everyone out there?"
Hayden followed her gaze, his tone softening to reassure her. "Don't worry about the staff. They know better than to gossip online unless they want to lose their jobs."
Suzie nodded. This sudden PR nightmare had nearly derailed everything she had planned for today. Today was the day she was supposed to lay all her cards on the table with Hayden. She didn't want to wait any longer.
"Hayden, go ahead and head back to your office for now. We can figure out how to handle the PR stuff later. I'll return a few calls and then come find you. There's something else I need to talk to you about."
"Alright. Don't stress yourself out too much. We'll figure it out."
