The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 446

Suzie listened in perfect silence. Her heart didn't soften in the slightest.

First of all, her memories of their time together were too saturated with pain. And second, just like the story Mia had told her, this sounded like nothing more than a man's bruised ego.

He couldn't let her go? If he really cared about her, why did he treat her like garbage back then?

Suzie had zero desire to argue with him. She had suffered through a lot of hardships raising her kids, but she had survived the worst of it. She was fine now.

"The moment you called me asking for a divorce," Suzie started, her voice slow and remarkably steady, "I had just found out I was pregnant. I was literally holding the ultrasound results in my hand. From that exact second, we were completely over in my mind."

She looked at him, a faint, cynical smile touching her lips.

"After that, you put me through one humiliation after another. I honestly thought I'd never forget the horrible things you said to me. But I didn't give myself enough credit. I've had a great life these past few years. A good career, happy kids. And moving forward, I'm fully capable of giving myself and my family an even better life."

Her tone hardened into something commanding. "You're a man of influence and status. Start acting like it. I am telling you formally, for the last time—stay the hell out of my life!"

With that, she turned for the door. But Jamie shifted his stance, physically blocking her exit.

He looked as if he wanted to argue, but he forcefully swallowed the words down. Instead, he asked, "Who is the kids' father? I want to hear it from you."

Suzie let out a derisive laugh. "Don't you already know? I'm a pathological liar, remember? Now move."

Hadn't she told him the truth enough times in the past?

Did he ever believe a single word out of her mouth?

Even if the fake paternity test and Suzanne's ridiculous nude photos had misled him, had he ever believed her about anything else?
