Hearing this, Jamie clenched his fists so tightly his knuckles popped, the darkness in his eyes deepening.
He gave Lionel a curt, polite nod before turning and striding out of the office without another word.
Seeing them leave, Lionel quickly called after them, "Did you check her phone records?!"
"We did. Nothing of note," Aaron answered swiftly over his shoulder. "Good day, Mr. Lockwood."
Stella, who had stayed uncharacteristically quiet, hurried after them.
Lionel's voice echoed down the hall. "Aaron, let me know the minute you find her!"
Aaron didn't have the time to reply. Matching his boss's rapid pace, he said, "Mr. Baylor, try not to panic. The Sovereign Hotel is in a heavily monitored, bustling area. I'll dispatch a team to pull the security footage right now. Should I loop in the authorities?"
"Do it," Jamie replied briskly as they walked.
Stella jogged to keep up. Once they reached the car and she was buckled into the passenger seat, she cleared her throat. Twisting slightly to look at the backseat, she muttered, "Jamie... I know we don't get along, but I wrongfully accused you just now. I apologize."
Jamie didn't say a word, merely giving a brief nod before pulling out his phone. He opened a chat window and began typing furiously.
Awkwardly withdrawing her gaze, Stella's mind immediately snapped back to her terrifying worry for her friend.
If Jamie wasn't behind this, then how on earth does someone just vanish in broad daylight, in the middle of a busy commercial district? It was highly unlikely she just went off to run an errand. Even if she had, she would have told the housekeepers and absolutely would have asked Stella to check on the kids. And even if her phone had died, she would have found somewhere to charge it.
It was as if she had evaporated into thin air!
Waiting for Aaron's team to pull the footage felt agonizing. They would have to scrub through hours of tape manually. Hopefully, now that they had involved the police, things would move faster.
