The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 484

It wasn't Yasmine who opened the door. It was a teenage boy.

Seeing Suzie, he immediately blurted out, "Yasmine sent me to unlock the door. She collapsed on the road last night and was taken to the hospital by some neighbors. She told me to say she's really sorry, and that you'll have to find your own way back to the city. Oh, and make sure you lock the door when you leave!"

The boy rattled off the message in one breath, turned on his heel, and sprinted away.

Suzie didn't even get the chance to ask a single question. She tried to chase after him, but by the time she forced her heavy, aching body out to the courtyard, her strength gave out. The boy was already a distant speck.

Dragging her feet, she asked for directions from the locals until she finally found the village convenience store. By then, it was already late morning.

Desperately worried about her kids, she borrowed a phone to call Zelina. Trying not to cause a panic, she casually lied, saying she had an unexpected work delay and her phone had died. Immediately after, she called Stella.

Then, she sat on the steps outside the store to wait. Eventually, through a feverish haze, she saw Jamie...

Bringing her mind back to the present, Suzie let out a soft sigh and rolled over in the hospital bed.

Footsteps echoed from behind the privacy screen, followed by the rustling of a bag being opened. Then, she saw Jamie's silhouette walk into the bathroom.

Soon, the sound of the shower running echoed through the quiet suite.

Suzie frowned. He was taking a shower? What was the big deal about waiting one night? It was just the two of them in this room—was it really appropriate for him to shower here?

Grumbling internally, she propped herself up, unplugged her phone from the charger on the nightstand, and switched it to silent.

She had a text from Stella asking her to reply as soon as she woke up.

There was also a message from Mia, telling her to get plenty of rest and promising that the kids were perfectly fine.

Clearly, Mia knew she had made it back safely.
