The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 524

Before she could react, his large hand shot out, long fingers gently but firmly tilting her chin up to meet his gaze.

"Why do you want to marry me? What exactly is it that you like about me?"

Suzie's mind went entirely blank.

This was insane. He was completely insane!

She swatted his hand away and dug into her bag, fully intending to pull out her phone, pull up the calendar, and shove the current year in his face.

But she stopped herself. That kind of proof was flimsy. If he really had lost the last few years of his memory, proving the year would only force her to explain everything that had happened during that time.

Realizing this, she slowly pulled her hand back out of her bag, leaving the phone inside.

"Sit."

While her thoughts were spiraling, Jamie issued a cool, authoritative command.

She hesitated for a second, then walked stiffly over to the sofa and sat down.

In her peripheral vision, she saw Jamie take a seat in a chair just across from her. His expression was dead serious.

"There are plenty of women who want to marry me," he said smoothly. "But with you, I feel a strange sense of familiarity—an inexplicable fondness. I am very satisfied with this marriage Grandpa arranged. I will give you a grand wedding. Whatever you want, you only have to ask."

Suzie snapped her eyes up to look at him. Judging by the utterly serious look on his face, it seemed he really had suffered selective amnesia.

But his words left her entirely disoriented. Back when he originally agreed to marry her for his grandfather's sake, he had merely nodded in compliance. He had never said any of these things to her. He had certainly never made any grand promises.

And a *grand wedding*? Their actual wedding had been quieter than an average dinner party. The most humiliating part was that they had been forced into a secret marriage.

Yet, in his broken, reset mind, this was a fresh start.
