The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 600

From outside the door, Zelina chuckled. "Yes, he showed up right after the kids finished breakfast. He said you asked him to take them, and the kids were absolutely thrilled. Ms. Sterling, that Mr. Baylor is a very impressive man. He's successful, and he clearly adores your children. You could do a lot worse."

Asked him?

He really knew how to spin a lie. And since he showed up right after the kids ate, the children were easily won over, and neither Zelina nor Wilna would have ever thought to stop him if he claimed Suzie had arranged it.

Suzie rubbed her aching temples, forcing a dry laugh toward the door before letting the conversation die.

Once the two housekeepers left the apartment, Suzie finally stepped into the bathroom to shower.

As she stripped off her clothes, she caught sight of herself in the mirror. The skin just below her collarbones was littered with shocking, vivid bruises and hickeys, some already turning a deep purplish-red.

Her mind flashed back to last night—the ferocious, devouring heat of his kisses, the desperate sound of his heavy breathing...

Her face burned so hotly she couldn't even bear to look at her own reflection.

Last night, completely trapped in his arms, she had actually fallen asleep? Was that insanely expensive herbal balm really that potent?

She didn't even know what time he had finally left her apartment!

...

By the time Suzie arrived at her studio, it was already 10:00 AM.

The receptionist, Tanya Zeller, immediately stood up when she walked in.

"Ms. Sterling! A woman named Sienna Garcia is here to see you. Mia is keeping her company in your office right now."

Hearing that her old college friend had arrived, Suzie's eyes lit up. She hurried toward her office.

The second she opened the door, Sienna leaped off the sofa, rushed over, and pulled Suzie into a massive hug.

"We basically only talk online these days! Do you know how long it's been since I saw you in person? I couldn't even make it to your grand opening. Tell me you aren't mad at me."
