They Loved Her After She Died novel Chapter 5

Chapter 5

My three brothers led Lucy back to the living room swiftly.

Before Lucy could put on another show of false concern, Aaron had already pulled out his phone to make a call.

“Freeze every card in Victoria’s name. Get me all her transaction records, and check every property our parents own. I want to know exactly where she’s been these past three days, and what she’s spent money on.”

After giving the order coldly, he ended the call.

Once the records were pulled, he was certain he would see exactly where I had been over those three days. Then, he could teach me a proper lesson.

I snorted out loud. Perhaps Aaron had forgotten, but back when one of his business decisions went disastrously wrong, the company had nearly collapsed. Shareholders had pulled out one after another.

When Aaron was cornered and out of options, it was me who poured every last cent I had into the company to save it. My savings included the money my brothers gave me, along with the properties my parents left me. Now, I had nothing left aside from my identity.

Bruce’s gaze swept over the empty living room before he let out a cold snort. “Victoria has some nerve. While we were busy taking care of Luce, she wasn’t in the cellar suffering along with her. Instead, she was out there enjoying herself. Let me ask the studios. Maybe they took her in because of me.”

Clark’s face looked grim as he muttered, “I have plenty of art studios under my name, too. She might be hiding in one of

them.”

Aaron let out a mocking laugh. “There’s nowhere she can hide now. We must find her and make her apologize to Luce!” After that, Bruce and Clark turned and left in front of Lucy. Yet, my spirit stayed by Aaron’s side, as if drawn there by his closeness to my body.

As Lucy watched Bruce and Clark leave, a flicker of jealousy directed toward me crossed her eyes.

She threw herself into Aaron’s arms. “Maybe Vicky doesn’t think I deserve to be your sister. If that’s the case, I should leave for now and come back when I’m worthy. That way, Vicky won’t go after me anymore, right?”

As Lucy spoke, tears rolled down her cheeks and fell onto the back of Aaron’s hand.

Aaron wiped her tears away tenderly and said softly, “Don’t worry, Luce. Once we find her, we’ll make her kneel and apologize to you! With us here, she won’t be able to cause you any more trouble!”

As Lucy lay in Aaron’s arms, a sly glint flashed across her eyes.

Watching Lucy continue her shameless act, rage surged through me. I lashed out with a kick. Unfortunately, I could no longer affect the living world at all.

Right then, Aaron’s phone rang, causing his lips to curl into a smirk. Assuming his men had discovered my tracks, he instantly relaxed.
