Chapter 7
Lucy had also hurried over. When she tried to touch Aaron, he slapped her hand away immediately.
“Get lost!” Aaron growled in a hoarse voice.
Lucy stumbled back in fear. She blinked a few times before tears streamed uncontrollably from her eyes.
Yet, her act didn’t evoke any sympathy from Aaron.
His eyes completely red, he glared at the maids and demanded, “The body! Where did you put the body that was inside a while ago?”
The maids cowered in terror. One maid gathered her courage to reply, “Mr. Aaron, Mr. Clark said the body was unhygienic and told us to burn it. We’ve just finished burning it…”
Hearing that, Aaron nearly blacked out. His legs went weak.
Right then, my phone that Aaron was gripping suddenly rang. I glanced at the screen and saw that it was Bruce calling.
The moment the call connected, Bruce’s sobbing voice came through. “Victoria, I’m so glad you answered. It was a misunderstanding. I’m really sorry for misunderstanding you…”
Aaron felt his head buzz.
Meanwhile, Bruce’s sobs continued on the other end of the phone.
“Victoria? Vicky, why aren’t you speaking? Are you angry at me? It’s my fault for not realizing sooner that Lucy set you up! She was the one who gave you the allergen that day. I completely misunderstood you. Please, say something, Victoria… can you forgive me?”
Standing beside them, I let out a mocking laugh.
Bruce was a rising pop star. I had put in a lot of effort behind the scenes for him. In fact, many of his hit songs were composed by me.
That morning, when Lucy gave me the seasoning packet that caused her allergy to flare up, I thought that things were finally getting better. It was especially so since I had composed a song that day for Bruce to celebrate his second debut anniversary.
I had no idea that Lucy would frame me, causing my brothers to drag me into the cellar, where I died of suffocation.
Fortunately, I was so overjoyed that I mentioned it to the studio staff, so they knew about the seasoning packet Lucy had
given me.
But if Bruce had gone to the studio earlier, he would’ve discovered the truth.
I shook my head coldly. Their affection came too late!
Right then, Aaron clutched his chest and stumbled back. He finally understood that he had misunderstood me. It was Lucy who had orchestrated everything.
Dejection flashed across his eyes as he chuckled bitterly. “It’s me, Bruce.”
