They Loved Her After She Died novel Chapter 6

Chapter 6

When Aaron snapped out of his reverie, tears had streaked his face.

How could he have forgotten about that? I had poured all my money into the company when it was at the brink of death to help Aaron get through the worst of it.

He was too mad earlier and instinctively assumed I had escaped with the money.

With that thought in mind, Aaron suddenly felt a sharp, gut-wrenching pain in his chest. It merely intensified his unease.

Lucy put on a pitiful expression and picked up his phone, handing it to him.

Aaron’s hands were trembling as he carefully gripped his phone and scrolled through his chat with me. The last time we chatted was three days ago. That discovery caused Aaron to tap on his phone case in irritation.

“Aaron, don’t worry…” Lucy was acting delicately again, but Aaron shoved her aside instantly.

He strode toward the cellar without hesitation, wanting to see for himself what exactly was inside.

“Brat, how dare you go missing? Do you really think you’re our only sister?”

I was forced to follow behind him, but my gaze was icy. I no longer wanted to have anything to do with him.

Aaron’s footsteps thudded heavily on the ground, a sign of his smoking anger.

The familiar decaying stench wafted out, causing his face to pale. Despite that, he still made his way to the cellar’s entrance.

Yet, when he glanced inside, he quickly frowned and demanded, “Where did that thing go?”

One of the maids who was cleaning the site replied fearfully, “Mr. Aaron, didn’t you ask us to clear her out?”

Another maid gave him a phone. “Mr. Aaron, we found Ms. Caldwell’s phone in the cellar. It’s been charged for a while and

can be turned on now.”

I glanced at the phone silently. Even though my heart was as cold as ice, I couldn’t stop tears from sliding down my cheeks.

Even in my final moments, I clung to a tiny shred of hope and sent SOS texts to him.

But there was no signal in the cellar, so the texts couldn’t be sent out at all. All I could do was watch as red exclamation marks appeared beside my unsent texts until I breathed my last in despair in that cellar.

Aaron took my phone from her. The lockscreen password was the combination of my three brothers’ birthday dates.
