Three years of loving him, three days to erase myself from his world novel Chapter 16

Julian patted Seraphina's small hand as if to comfort her. His lips parted, ready to speak.

Watching this, Clara's eyes grew bloodshot at the corners. Her chest heaved; she had reached the absolute limit of her endurance.

"Enough! Can you stop speaking French? Do you not know how to speak the national language?!"

Her hoarse, furious shout stunned both Julian and Seraphina.

Seraphina scoffed and muttered discontentedly in French, "Julian, do you see? She's this much of a shrew when you're here. When you're not, she's even meaner to me!"

Julian's brows knit tightly, but he remained silent.

Clara stared at Seraphina. If she could, she would have slapped her hard across the face.

She turned to Julian, suppressing her anger, and articulated every word, "This office is mine. Why should I give it to her?"

As she met his eyes, a lump formed in her throat.

It was the sting of grievance.

How could she not feel aggrieved?

Didn't he know what this office meant to her?

Had he forgotten the promise he made to her back then?

"This office is the closest to you. I'll work from here from now on, okay?"

Back then, her face was written with pure, girlish devotion.

He had touched her cheek and agreed with a gentle voice.

"Alright. You can be wherever you want to be."

Those words had been like a stone thrown into the lake of her heart, causing endless ripples.

She had been overjoyed, blushing as she lowered her eyes. Hands clasped behind her back, she walked to the left wall of the office and said happily, "I'm going to put a cabinet here and keep all the gifts you've given me inside. That way, whenever I look up, I'll see them!"

...

Her thoughts pulled back to the present.

Looking again at the man she had once loved with all her heart and soul, Clara felt nothing but bitterness and heartache.

"I'm not moving out."

Julian looked into her stubborn, almond-shaped eyes. They were watery, as if something wet was about to fall the next second. Suddenly, his heart felt as if it had been scraped by something, a numb ache spreading through it.

It was an indescribable sensation.

Anyway, she'd be gone soon!

With that.

She stepped forward, pushing past the two of them, and walked into the office. She grabbed a few important documents from her desk, along with her tablet.

Then, without a moment's hesitation, she walked out.

She didn't even cast a glance at the shelf holding the gifts he had once given her—the things she had treated as treasures—nor the framed photo of the two of them on the desk.

Instead, she simply told the cleaning lady standing nearby, "Auntie, I don't want the rest of this stuff. Please throw it away for me when you clean up!"

Seraphina watched, a faint smirk touching her lips.

Julian, however, frowned deeply. His expression darkened significantly, especially when he heard her say 'don't want' and 'throw it away'.

She had cherished those things so much before!

He couldn't even figure out why he cared so much about it.

As she walked past.

He couldn't help but step forward to block her path. "Clara..."
