"Ah, my hand..." Seraphina let out a low cry.
Julian immediately looked at her with concern. Seeing that her hand was fine, he looked up for Clara again, but she was already far away.
He furrowed his brows, feeling inexplicably irritated.
Noticing that he wasn't fussing over her and was instead staring in the direction Clara had left, Seraphina pursed her lips in grievance.
"You say you don't care about her..."
Hearing this, Julian's frown deepened. He turned back to her, his voice carrying a coldness he didn't even notice.
"Sera, you should have told me you wanted to use her office."
Tears instantly welled up in Seraphina's eyes at the reprimand. She complained, "Julian! You've really changed!"
"In the past, you would never question me because of another woman!"
"Look at these past few days—how many times have you criticized me because of Clara! ...You've changed!"
Julian's expression shifted, and he froze for a few seconds. Looking at her tear-stained face, he finally rubbed his temples in exasperation.
"Here you go again... I've explained this to you so many times..."
Seraphina turned her head away, her heart souring with grievance.
Julian sighed helplessly. Pulling a handkerchief from his suit pocket, he stepped closer to wipe away her tears, his voice softening slightly.
"Alright, you can use this office. I won't say any more about it."
Seraphina bit her lip.
Julian let out a low sigh, stroking her cheek and wiping away a stray teardrop.
"Still just a little girl, crying so easily."
"Are you going to meet Professor Thorne tomorrow with swollen eyes?"
Meet Professor Thorne?
The renowned Marcus Thorne in the design industry?
Seraphina froze, staring blankly at the man.
"Julian..."
Understanding her question, Julian smoothed her long hair with his large hand.
He explained, "Yes, it's the Professor Thorne you're thinking of, Marcus Thorne. Haven't you always wanted to be his student?"
"I'll take you to meet him tomorrow. Stop crying. If you cry any more, your eyes really will swell."
Looking at the man's handsome face and hearing his gentle coaxing, Seraphina's gloom gradually dissipated.
Overjoyed, she threw herself into his arms.
"Thank you, Julian! You're so good to me!"
"But I heard Professor Thorne only took on one student and won't accept any more. Will he accept me?"
"He will."
Julian patted her back, replying absentmindedly.
His gaze drifted over her head, toward the small office across the way.
His thoughts drifting far away...
