Half an hour later, Pelican Bay.
Julian led Clara inside by the hand.
Susan was busy tidying up the living room. Seeing them return, she greeted them with pleasant surprise.
"Mr. Lowell, Ms. Vance, you're back! Are you hungry? Shall I prepare some late-night snacks?"
No matter how fiercely Clara and Julian fought, she would never take it out on Susan.
She replied softly, "No thank you, Susan. I've already eaten. You go ahead and rest!"
"Oh... alright then."
Julian shot Clara a look. She certainly knew how to be gentle and sweet to everyone else!
He let out a quiet scoff and led her upstairs to the master bedroom. The moment they stepped inside, he pinned her against the entryway wall. Pressing his body against hers, he murmured.
"Clara, I don't love Seraphina. I have my reasons for helping her! You have to believe me... hm?"
Clara leaned back, dodging his burning breath. Hearing his words, her delicate face remained indifferent as she even began to feign consideration for him.
"If you have your reasons for helping her, then you absolutely must take good care of her! I completely understand!"
Julian's face turned black. He had half a mind to bite that mouth of hers, just to see what it was made of to be so stubbornly sharp!
"Do you really have to provoke me like this?"
Clara's eyes turned icy. "You're the one who gave me the opportunity to provoke you!"
With that, she shoved him away, walked into the walk-in closet, and pulled out a suitcase to start packing.
Julian had a temper of his own. After being rejected multiple times, he was feeling exhausted. Pulling a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, he prepared to smoke.
Suddenly, looking over, he realized she was packing her things in the closet, seemingly intent on moving out for good. His brows instantly knitted together.
Tossing the cigarette aside, he marched over in long strides, pulled her up from the floor, shoved her onto the sofa, and immediately pressed himself over her.
Furious, he growled, "Clara, I told you, I haven't agreed to a breakup!"
The position was entirely too humiliating.
Clara's face flushed bright red with anger, and she beat against his shoulders.
