She had it done in ten minutes.
She printed it out, placed the resignation letter in an envelope, and went to the CEO's office.
On the way, she ran into the second secretary, Quentin Xavier. Seeing her, he stopped and called out, "Assistant Vance, are you looking for the CEO? He's not in his office right now; he went to a meeting."
A meeting?
That's perfect, saves her the trouble of arguing with him.
Clara smiled slightly, "It's fine, I'm just dropping something off."
Quentin: "Alright then."
Clara nodded, walked into the CEO's office, and placed the resignation letter in the most prominent spot on his desk.
The white envelope was strikingly conspicuous against the black desk.
Clara stood there in a daze staring at it for a good while. Her fair fingertips gently traced the desktop, and finally, with a faint smile, she left.
Her slender back looked somewhat desolate...
...
After heading downstairs, Clara simply packed up her things, preparing to take them with her when she got off work at noon.
Unexpectedly, at noon, Julian actually called.
Clara was just about to leave.
Seeing the caller ID, she hesitated for a moment before answering.
"Hello."
The man's tone was flat. "Come out for a minute. I'm outside the company; I have something to tell you."
It seemed he wanted to talk about her resignation.
Clara nodded, "Okay."
Anyway, she had to face him sooner or later.
The moment she spoke, he hung up.
Clara paused, unknowingly gripping her phone tightly. A few seconds later, she pushed her office door open and walked out.
At this hour, almost everyone had gone to lunch, leaving only a scattered few in the office area.
It was very quiet.
Which made the female voice suddenly ringing out behind her seem rather piercing.
"Clara Vance!"
Seraphina Shaw.
Clara furrowed her brows. Too lazy to entertain her, she kept walking.
