With that, he applied more pressure, massaging the ankle.
Nova swallowed her cries of pain, though her breathing grew ragged, her gasps alternating between heavy and shallow.
Tristan caught a glimpse of her out of the corner of his eye. Noticing the cold sweat on her forehead, he eased up slightly.
Still in pain, Nova couldn't help but ask, "If you're not satisfied with my performance today, you can just tell me."
His hand stilled. Tristan looked at her. "Is that the kind of person you think I am?"
Nova frowned. "Sorry, I don't really know what kind of person you are."
Tristan let go of her. "You did well today."
Nova's eyes flickered, and she seized the opening. "Then, about that condition in the Divorce Agreement—the GPS tracker..."
"But I can't be certain how long this cooperative attitude of yours will last, can I? You've pulled the 'take the benefits and run' routine on me more than a few times." Tristan stood up, analyzing her.
"Then what do you want?" Nova asked.
At her question, Tristan let out a low chuckle. "You've grown quite bold lately. You never would have dared to speak to me like this before. It's good. Keep it up."
Nova was slightly taken aback and looked away.
Suddenly, Tristan reached out, tipping her chin up so she was forced to look at him. "The soup Grandma gave us was spiked with an aphrodisiac."
Nova frowned, her eyes involuntarily darting down to his lower half.
Sure enough, he was already...
"I..." Nova shook her head.
They were about to get divorced; bringing a child into this mess was completely unnecessary.
Plus...
"If Grandma asks, do you know what to say?" Tristan let go of her.
Nova caught on immediately.
