Chapter 13 Wolfing Down Their Food

Taylor smacked his lips, remembering the food he had eaten that morning. “Jaden, I never knew your Site’s cooking was this good.”

Zachary had noticed Taylor a long time ago, but seeing the two kids sitting obediently at the entrance working together, he didn’t interrupt them.

When the chicken soup had almost finished simmering, he started making tomatoes with scrambled eggs,

He beat the eggs first, stir–fried them in hot oil until they were done, then set them aside.

Since the only seasoning he had was ginger, he heated oil again, added ginger slices to release their fragrance, then put in the tomatoes. Once the tomatoes softened and released their juices, he added the eggs back in and stir–fried everything together.

Soon, a familiar yet long–forgotten aroma drifted through the cave.

Zachary walked to the entrance and asked with a smile, “Are the wild vegetables sorted yet?”

“Y, they’re done.” Taylor still couldn’t help feeling a little nervous when faced with Zachary.

Zachary warmly invited him over. “Taylor, why don’t you stay and have dinner with us tonight?”

Taylor was already gulping when he smelled the food. Hearing Zachary’s invitation, he wanted to stay but felt a little embarrassed. He secretly glanced at Jaden, hesitating.

Taylor had fluffy hair and an adorable face, looking like a mix–blood.

Zachary bent down and gently ruffled his hair. “Stay and eat with us. I made plenty of food.”

In the end, Taylor couldn’t resist the temptation of delicious food.

“I’ll be right back.” As soon as he finished speaking, Taylor transformed into a little black panther and dashed off in a flash.

“What did that kid go off to do?” Zachary asked.

Jaden shook his head. “No idea.”

Before long, Taylor came running back, carrying a piece of meat in his hand.

“According to my Sire, food is very precious,” Taylor said as he handed the meat to Zachary. “You can’t just eat other people’s food for free.”

Zachary was surprised by the child’s politeness. Looking at Taylor’s sincere eyes, he smiled. “Thank you for this, Taylor.”

By now, the light outside the cave had completely faded, and the temperature had dropped. Inside the cave, the fire in the stove burned brightly, lighting up most of the interior.

At the table nearby sat one adult and two

children.

Chapter 73 Wolfing Down The

Food

“These are for you and Taylor.” Zach

The bowls at home were big and made of stone, so they were quite heavy. Zachary struggled to lift them, so Jaden and Taylor quickly came over to help.

The chicken soup stewed with mushrooms, golden and clear Just looking at it made their mouths water.

There was tomato with scrambled eggs and mixed wild vegetables as well. There wasn’t much variety, but the portions were generous–two big plates in total. Zachary had even used eight eggs for the dish.

He had already learned that the appetite of children here couldn’t be compared to that of modern kids

“Careful, it’s hot.” As if he could already predict Taylor’s reaction, Jaden reminded him first.

Hearing that, Taylor took a small sip, and his eyes instantly lit up. “It smells amazing. It’s so good!”

He grabbed Jaden’s arm and urged him, “Jaden, hurry and try it!”

Jaden took a sip as well and couldn’t help nodding. “It’s very good.”

Zachary said expectantly, “Try these two dishes too.”

After tasting a bite of the tomatoes with scrambled eggs, Taylor was completely stunned. His eyes sparkled

even more now.

“What is this?”

Zachary replied. “Tomatoes with scrambled eggs.

“Tomatoes?”

“It’s that fruit over there.” Zachary pointed at the tomatoes on the stone slab.

Taylor kicked his legs happily. “Zachary, you’re amazing. The food you make is so delicious. I feel so happy right now.

“Even the wild vegetables aren’t bitter. They’re cool and crunchy.”

Taylor, who usually hated eating wild vegetables, picked up several more.

Jaden, as always, remained calm and quiet, not saying much, but his expression had clearly softened.

At the table, Taylor and Zachary chatted back and forth, talking happily.

“I picked these today,” Zachary said when he noticed Jaden seemed to like the mushrooms in the soup. In no time, Jaden had already eaten all the ones in his bowl. “They’re those brown plants with the little caps.”

Jaden looked a little surprised. He hadn’t expected that kind of plant to taste so good. It turned out Zachary had been telling the truth.

Zachary rarely saw such expressions on Jaden’s face, and it made him quite happy. “There’s still plenty in

more mushrooms. There are even tastier varieties.” the pot. Next time, we can gather

“Mushrooms?”

Zachary casually brushed it off. “Yeah. Just

name I made up for fun.”

Seeing that there wasn’t much meat in Zachary’s bowl, Jaden said, “I’ll catch another clucking beast

tomorrow.

He clearly saw himself as the pillar of the household.

“I like drinking soup.” Zachary said. As someone from the modern–day world, he was especially fond of all kinds of soups. “Soup has a lot of nutrients.”

At first, the two children held back and didn’t dare eat too much. But after Zachary urged them several times, they finally let themselves eat freely.

Zachary drank a bowl of soup and finished the meat-

tin his bowl, and that was enough to fill him up. The rest was almost entirely eaten by the two kids.

By the end, they even finished every last drop of soup left in the pot.

Taylor rubbed his round belly and leaned against Jaden, squinting his eyes in contentment.

“Jaden, your Sire is amazing!

Jaden was squatting by the cave entrance, washing the pot and bowls. A warm little bundle of a child was practically stuck to his back. Helpless, he said, “Taylor, sit up straight.”

“Mmm…” Taylor didn’t move at all, looking completely lazy and relaxed.

Seeing that Taylor refused to budge, Jaden simply let him be.

As Taylor kept praising Zachary beside his ear, Jaden asked, “Didn’t you say you didn’t like my Sire before?”

“That was because he used to treat you badly.” Taylor murmured. “He doesn’t hit you anymore, and he cooks delicious food for you so you can eat your fill. I like him. I like whoever treats you well, Jaden.”

Jaden’s hands paused for a moment, but he said nothing.

After going to the bathroom, Zachary walked slowly back toward the cave under the moonlight. Beneath his silver–gray

hair, his features looked as if they had been outlined with a brush, softly illuminated by the pale glow of the moon.

Taylor stared in fascination. “Jaden, he’s so pretty.”

“Mm.” Jaden looked over as well and agreed completely.
