Chapter 182 The Tree Trap

Matthew didn’t spare him a single glance.

MeowZachary let out a soft, pitiful cry.

Meanwhile, Yaelthe selfappointed audience memberpropped his chin on one hand and leaned toward Kyle and Daniel, already placing bets on how long Matthew could keep pretending Zachary didn’t exist.

Daniel shrugged. A whole day, minimum.

Kyle disagreed immediately. Nah. He’ll stay mad until tonight.

You two are giving Matthew way too much credit.Yael smirked like he already knew the outcome. He won’t last much longer.

Daniel frowned. No chance. Matthew was terrified back then. There’s no way he gets over it that quickly.”

Kyle thought about it for a second, then hesitated. Actually, you might be right.

Noticing Matthew completely ignoring him, Zachary lowered his ears miserably. His appetite vanished on the spot. He trudged over to the corner and curled himself into a little ball.

Daniel lowered his voice. See? I told you. Matthew’s still pissed. They’re definitely not making up anytime soon.

But in the very next moment, Matthew carried over a leaf piled with shredded meat and set it down in front of Zachary.

Eat this.

His tone was still cold and flat.

Yael chuckled under his breath. Called it.

Daniel refused to admit defeat. That doesn’t count.

The three of them kept secretly watching the pair from afar like undercover detectives.

MeowZachary looked up at Matthew with watery, pleading eyes.

Matthew turned around and walked back to where he’d been sitting.

Zachary immediately buried his face in his paws and stubbornly refused to touch the food.

Matthew’s brows slowly pulled together.

Kyle sighed. Yeah, they’re definitely not making up ton-

Before the word ronighteven left his mouth, Matthew was already crouched back down in front of Zachary, holding the meat up to feed him personally.

Eat properly

Zachary blinked innocently, took the roasted meat from Matthew’s hand, then sneakily licked his fingertips

Eat your own food.Matthew said blankly.

Zachary acted like he hadn’t heard a thing. He immediately launched himself forward, wrapping his front paws tightly around Matthew’s neck while rubbing against him nonstop.

Matthew looked completely helpless. Worried the meat Zachary in his arms.

Daniel blinked, stunned. Waitseriously? That’s all

took to calm him down?

At bedtime. Zachary became unusually clingy. The second Matthew lay down, Zachary hurried over and squeezed himself against the black panther’s stomach, hugging his paws while burying his fluffy face against Matthew’s chest.

Matthew stubbornly reminded himself he was still angry, so tonight, he firmly decided he would not kiss Zachary.

Maybe the hunt earlier had been too exciting, because even in his sleep, Zachary seemed to be dreaming about chasing sheep. All four legs twitched wildly until one hard kick landed squarely on Matthew and jolted him awake.

In the darkness, Matthew grabbed Zachary’s kicking legs and pinned them down firmly. Just as he was about to fall back asleep, Zachary in his arms suddenly bared his teeth and hissed angrily.

Is he really that angry?

Matthew flicked his tail once before shutting him up with a kiss.

Meanwhile, inside the dream, Zachary was horrified.

This sheep could actually eat lynxes!

And it was chewing directly on his face!

The next morning, Zachary woke up still thinking about the nightmare. His first conclusion was that the rock sheep must’ve died full of resentment and returned in his dream for revenge.

Today was the day they checked whether their traps had caught anything. After breakfast, everyone split into groups of three and headed off to inspect them one by one.

Naturally, Zachary stuck close to Matthew at first.

Unfortunately, halfway there, he spotted a rabbit.

And instantly forgot Matthew existed.

Chapter 182 The Tree Trap

On the opposite side of the mountain, the therians from the White Tiger Tribe had also gone out hunting.

Horace and Hubert led the group. Not long ago, they’d managed to bring down a gruntbeast, which counted as excellent luck in weather like this

Snow blanketed every inch of the forest. Even the slightest breeze could send powder flying through the air.

Hubert’s beast form was a massive white tiger streaked with black stripes. Moving through the woods, he looked overwhelmingly powerful.

Thanks to his incredibly sharp hearing, he caught the sound of movement in the underbrush immediately.

By the time Horace turned around, his younger brother had already disappeared.

Not far away, a silvergray lynx was currently sprinting after a fat rabbit, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

The rabbit was incredibly fast, dragging the chase across the snowy plains in a long pursuit.

Hubert watched with growing amusement.

Right in the middle of the chase, the lynx suddenly sensed danger.

He slammed to a stop and turned his headonly to see an enormous white tiger charging toward him from a distance.

Zachary nearly lost his soul on the spot.

That thing was huge enough to kill him without effort.

He bolted instantly, screaming as he ran.

Watching the lynx’s legs move so fast they almost blurred together, Hubert became even more entertained and sped up his pursuit.

This is perfect. Sire is missing a fur coat anyway. This color isn’t bad.

Hearing the tiger getting closer and closer behind him, Zachary spotted a towering tree nearby and scrambled upward in a panic, leaping from branch to branch until he reached the top in seconds.

But before he could relax, a horrifying realization hit him.

Tigers can climb trees too! I’m dead.

His entire body stiffened instantly. Sharp claws dug hard into the bark as he desperately crawled toward the thinnest branches at the very top.

That tiger was gigantic. There was no way those branches could support its weight.

Surely it wouldn’t risk falling just to catch him.

Unfortunately, the white tiger seemed absurdly patient. He sat beneath the tree like a guard, refusing to

leave.

Roar!

The deep growl made Zachary’s heart hammer violently in his chest. He curled himself into a tight little ball and hid behind the branches, trying to stay invisible.

Hubert circled the tree lazily several times.

Just when Zachary finally thought the tiger had lost interest and was about to leave, the white tiger suddenly jumped.

In only a few powerful leaps, he reached the thick branch where Zachary was hiding.
