Transmigrated to Raise Panther Cubs novel Chapter 29

Chapter 29 Snake Scare by the River

Quincy and Yael came over with a big bundle of wild scallions. They crouched by the water and started washing them.

Zachary looked at the river’s surface. Are there a lot of fish in this river?

There are.” Quincy said. But they aren’t easy to catch.

Zachary started thinking about ways to weave fishing nets and fish traps. Then he reconsidered.

Making a fishing rod would probably be much easier.

Yael nudged Matthew with his elbow. Your mate wants to eat fish.

Matthew glanced at him and said nothing.

Not far away, Taylor noticed a nest in a tree. He grabbed Jaden’s arm and pulled him toward it.

What’s wrong?Jaden asked.

There’s something good.”

When Taylor reached the tree, he let go and climbed up right away. He looked into the nest and saw many eggs inside. They were bright and white.

Taylor remembered the tomato scrambled eggs Zachary had made before. He swallowed and carefully took out the eggs. He handed them down one by one.

Jaden, catch them.

Be careful,Jaden said. He looked up at Taylor hanging upside down and couldn’t help reminding him.

It’s fine. Just don’t break them. I still want to eat tomato scrambled eggs and egg pancakes.

Jaden said, I saw a group of quacking beasts on the river just now. Their nests might be in the grass nearby.

Taylor’s eyes widened. He jumped down right away and grabbed Jaden. Let’s go find them!

Slow down. We still have eggs in our hands.

A group of quacking beasts swam across the middle of the river. When they noticed the therians on the shore, they panicked. They flapped their wings and hurried to the other side.

Jaden and Taylor searched through the thick grass along the riverbank. They bent over and pushed the grass aside while they looked carefully.

Look!Taylor suddenly stood up and called out to Jaden with excitement.

Jaden leaned closer. Several pale blue eggs came into view. They were oval and about the size of a fist.

Taylor couldn’t hold them all with his hands. He wrapped his arms around them and held them carefully against his chest.

Quacking beast nests were usually found close together, so Jaden kept searching the nearby grass.

Taylor carried the quacking beast eggs back to Zachary and the others. After he set them down, he quickly ran back to help Jaden.

Zachary picked up one of the quacking beast eggs and looked at it again and again. He felt very happy. The big duck eggs looked great.

Yael walked over. Zachary, can you make that egg pancake you talked about with these?

Of course,Zachary said with a smile. I’ll teach you how to make it when we get back.

As soon as Yael heard that, he picked up a beasthide bag right away. He said eagerly, I’ll carry it. You just

rest.”

Taylor and Jaden had great luck. They found several nests of quacking beast eggs.

Eggs broke easily, so Zachary took out a separate beasthide bag. He carefully placed the quail eggs Taylor and Jaden took from the tree inside. He also put the duck eggs they had just found into it.

The sun moved toward the southwest. It slowly started shifting north.

The group dug up some more wild vegetables by the river.

Matthew looked up at the sky. It’s time to go back.”

Quincy waved at the two cubs who were still treasure huntingnearby.

Coming!Taylor ran over. Something swung in his hand.

Zachary bent down and tied the rope on a beasthide bag. When he looked up, a long snake suddenly appeared in his sight. Its brown body was covered in scales. It raised its upper body and hissed.

Zachary froze in shock.

He started shaking. His face turned pale in an instant. He stumbled backward.

The ground was full of rocks and weeds, so Zachary almost fell. Matthew stood beside him and quickly reached out to steady him.

What’s wrong?Quincy asked with confusion.

SnakeZachary’s voice trembled.

Yael looked surprised to see Zachary like this. You’re afraid of snakes?

His shock made sense. Snakes were also food for the tribe. During winter, prey became scarce. The therians sometimes searched for snakes that were hiding and hibernating. They used them to fill their stomachs.

Zachary nodded. He grabbed Matthew’s arm and moved behind him. He didn’t even dare look toward Taylor’s hand.

Taylor quickly threw the snake far away. He looked embarrassed. Sorry, Zachary. I didn’t know you were

scared.

Jaden spoke up. Sire, that snake isn’t poisonous.

Yeah. I’m fine,Zachary said.

His face looked calm, but his body stayed completely still. His eyes watched the nearby grass nervously.

Most things didn’t bother him. However, stakes were different. It didn’t matter what kind they were or whether they had venom. Zachary had been afraid of snakes since he was little. Just thinking/about them made goosebumps cover his whole body.

Matthew patted the hand that was gripping his arm tightly. In the next moment, he changed into his beast form.

He swept his tail lightly against Zachary and lowered his body.

No one needed to remind him. Zachary quickly climbed onto the black leopard’s back. The moment his feet left the ground, he finally felt some relief in his chest.

He took the beasthide bag Quincy handed over. He placed it on Matthew’s back and held onto it tightly.

They had a lot of things with them. Matthew and Yael also carried large beasthide bags in their mouths.

Their fangs stayed hidden, so their expressions looked much friendlier

Their speed clearly increased on the way back. The two black leopards ran through the thick forest and headed straight toward the tribe.

The last light of the sunset slipped through the gaps between the leaves. Small pieces of light scattered across the ground covered with grass stems. The temperature slowly dropped.

The place they visited this time was far away. Fortunately, they returned to the tribe before nightfall.

From a distance, a bonfire burned in the center of the tribe. In the dim gray evening, the bright yellow flames stood out clearly.
