Zachary really was hungry. He lowered his head and took small sips, while Matthew stayed beside him the whole time, pouring water and cutting fruit, never leaving his side for even a moment.
The sunlight was covered by clouds, and the weather was unusually cooler.
Sitting for too long made Zachary uncomfortable, so he brought over a cushion, laid it onto the hammock under the tree, and climbed in.
A handsome face suddenly appeared in front of him. Matthew was bare–chested, his fair skin almost glowing, long fingers gripping the edge of the hammock. “I’ll push you.”
Zachary asked, “Why aren’t you at work?”
Matthew replied, “I’ve got a few days off to rest.”
Zachary turned over, facing away from him. The hem of his clothes lifted slightly, revealing the purplish marks on his waist.
Matthew lowered his head and stared at his own hands for a few seconds, frowning. He lowered his voice and apologized, “Sorry.”
Zachary turned his head and followed Matthew’s gaze downward. His skin bruised easily, so the marks looked obvious, though they didn’t hurt much.
But he didn’t say that. Instead, he asked, “Can’t you be gentler in the future?”
Matthew nodded. “I will be very gentle.”
Zachary asked again, “If I say stop, will you really stop?”
Matthew answered seriously, “I will.”
Zachary seemed satisfied. “Go get a stool.”
Matthew immediately did as he was told.
Once he sat down, Zachary pulled his hand over and placed it on his own waist. “Massage it for me.”
Matthew hummed in response, his warm palm resting on Zachary’s lower back. He deliberately held back his strength, using very light pressure, one motion after another.
Zachary narrowed his eyes in comfort. After a while, he shifted to lie on his back, guiding Matthew’s hand to his stomach. “It feels uncomfortable here too.”
His lower abdomen was flat, the flesh soft. Matthew slowly rubbed in circles, unable to resist sneaking in a gentle squeeze now and then.
The hammock beneath the tree began to sway softly, and the evening breeze made people drowsy,
The therian sat by the hammock, leaning forward slightly, staring at his sleeping mate without blinking.

Jaden returned from husting practice, and the little moo beast excitedly ran up to him, spinning in circles while mooing. Then, it suck its head into the child’s pocket and successfully found a fresh, plump red
fruit.
Matthew turned his head, his tone unfriendly. “Make another sound, and I’ll eat you.”
Jaden looked at the slightly bulging hammock and immediately grabbed the moo beast’s mouth, whispering, “My Sire is sleeping. Be quiet.”
Still, Matthew’s threat worked better. With just one sentence, the moo beast’s wagging tail drooped, and it quickly ran off with the fruit in its mouth.
Life flowed on like a small stream, quietly moving forward through time. Summer had fully arrived. Everything was a deep, rich green, and the sunlight had grown scorching.
The vegetation in the primeval forest was dense. With just a bit of attention, one could find plenty of fruit trees, clusters hanging from branches. Even in the grass, if one searched carefully, there were patches of fruit.
When Jaden went out for practical lessons, his bag was always full when he returned. As for Matthew, he carried even more, his bags heavy with harvest.
The father and son especially loved watching Zachary eat fruit. That look of satisfaction on his face made them feel deeply happy.
Therians coming to trade at the market brought fruits from all over. When Yael and the others came across something new, they would also bring some back for Zachary.
Fresh fruits in the cave were almost never lacking–in fact, they kept piling up. Zachary would turn them into all kinds of jams, pairing them with baked bread, or drying them into preserved fruits. But the most popular of all were the chilled fruit teas in summer.
Matthew would deliberately boil a large pot of water, let it cool, then place it into the mountain stream to chill. The next day, he would bring it back, saving it specifically for Zachary to experiment with new
creations.
The market run by the Black Panther Tribe grew larger and larger, even becoming a fixed trading spot for nearby tribes. Whenever the weather was good, it was especially lively.
The children were the happiest. The moment they woke up, they ran over to play. Most stalls belonged to their own tribe, so if they got hungry or thirsty, there were always adults ready to feed them warmly.
Zachary would also go stroll around, especially when it was Matthew’s turn to work. When he felt bored at home, he would go along.
Almost everyone who came to trade knew Zachary. Whenever there was something new, they would immediately call him over to take a look.
Meanwhile, Zachary was more than happy to oblige. After one round, his hands were almost never empty. This time, he discovered something good–durian.

Before he even got close, he caught the smell. Following it, he searched and finally stopped in front of several tall therians. The stall was piled high with durians, giving off a strong, rich aroma.
But there didn’t seem to be many customers, and there was even a noticeable gap between them and neighboring stalls. Passersby would at most glance curiously, but before the therians could even start introducing their goods, they would quickly hurry away.
When Zachary asked about it, the therians became extremely excited. They immediately opened a large durian and enthusiastically offered him a taste.
Soft, creamy, sweet–what a wonderful flavor.
Zachary was elated after just one bite, happiness practically bubbling over.
Seeing this, the therians looked as if they had found a kindred spirit. They qu
