Matthew said, “I won’t hold you tight, then.”

But after a short while, Zachary still felt hot. He took Matthew’s hand off his waist and asked if they could not sleep while holding each other.
Matthew hummed and said nothing more, shifting his body back to put some distance between them.
It was indeed cooler. Zachary yawned and was just about to fall asleep when he heard movement beside him.
He reached out and felt nothing. “Matthew?”
Matthew’s voice sounded muffled. “What is it?”
Zachary felt around and realized that Matthew had turned his back to him, lying almost at the very edge of the bed.
After spending so much time together, Zachary immediately knew he was upset. So he leaned over onto Matthew, gave him a flurry of random kisses, and said, “If you don’t hold me, I don’t think I’d be able to fall asleep.”
Matthew turned back and extended an arm.
Zachary immediately slipped into his embrace and gently patted his back. “Alright, let’s sleep.”
But once the breathing beside him became steady, he quietly slipped away again, sneaking back to the
corner.
The next morning, Matthew looked at his partner–who was practically as far away as possible–and felt quite frustrated. After breakfast, he replaced all the bedding with ultra–thin layers.
However, the padding underneath was still thick. The stone bed was too hard, and Zachary would feel uncomfortable otherwise.
But in this world, the seasons were very distinct. Once the warm season arrived, the temperature kept rising.
As such, Zachary took Matthew and the others to get some bamboo. They split it into thin strips, boiled it to kill the insects, then dried it. After that, they carefully scraped off the rough edges and polished it with stones before weaving it piece by piece along the warp and weft.
The group worked for several days straight, but when they saw the finished product, all the effort was clearly worth it.
That night, Zachary lay on the cool bamboo mat, limbs spread out like a starfish, completely at ease.
Because of the heat, Matthew had been rejected several times. Now, finally getting his chance, he shut the door with other intentions.
Zachary was pinned down and couldn’t move. Too lazy to struggle, he simply lay there and let Matthew do

as he pleased.

But Matthew had far too much stamina. Zachary drifted in and out of consciousness several times, yet he still hadn’t stopped–kissing, biting, and becoming unusually excited.
Only when his body was soaked in warm water did Zachary finally let out a sigh of relief. Limp, he leaned against Matthew and completely fell into a deep sleep.
But not long after, he was disturbed once more.
Angry, Zachary bit down on Matthew’s shoulder. When he couldn’t kick him away, he threw his pillow onto the ground and told him to sleep outside the cave from now on.
Matthew wanted to coax him, but Zachary was already too exhausted to even open his eyes, like a soft cotton doll being handled however someone pleased.
The next afternoon, Zachary woke up and looked at the marks all over his body. Expressionless, he found a set of long–sleeved clothes and pants. After getting dressed, he headed out, planning to ask someone to dig another cave.
Matthew quickly stopped him, his attitude sincere. “It’s all my fault… Next time, if you say stop, I’ll stop. I won’t do anything unless you tell me to.”
If Matthew had said such things at the beginning, Zachary would have widened his eyes, blushed, and nodded innocently–maybe even moved to give him a few kisses in gratitude.
But after repeated firsthand experience, Zachary had come to understand that in certain matters, Matthew’s reliability was close to zero.
When he heard these words now, Zachary didn’t even lift his eyelids. His mind was full of the way he had been overwhelmed last night, left in all sorts of embarrassing states.
Therians carried half the instincts of beasts in their bodies. It was in their nature, and their desires would be amplified by love. Naturally, Matthew was obsessed with leaving his mark on his partner, inside and
out.
Zachary could understand that, but Matthew had gone too far last night.
Were pearls meant to be used like that? Were necklaces and bracelets supposed to be worn like that? Was a tail something that could be used like that? Why insist on things? Why couldn’t he rein himself in?
He was outrageous!
Outside the cave, the freshly washed mat was still dripping wet, forming a small puddle on the ground. Zachary suddenly lifted his head and shot Matthew a glare, trying to push him away and continue walking
But for Matthew–tall, strong, well–fed, and in high spirits–this level of force was negligible. He pretended to step back a couple of steps, then quickly moved forward again and pulled Zachary into his arms.
Already sore all over, Zachary only felt worse when held so tightly. But to Matthew, a slap felt like a reward, and bite marks only excited him more. Zachary turned his head away angrily, not wanting to deal
with him.

Chapter 299 Warmer Weather
The title mos beast trotted over, tilting its head curiously as it looked left and right.
Matthew coldly said, “Goaway”
Zachary added, “You go away too.”
Matthew was speechless. Meanwhile, the little calf hid behind a tree and continued to moo.

After breakfast, Matthew had gone to the river to slaughter à clucking beast. He chopped it into small pieces, placed them into a clay pot with ginger slices, red dates, and berries, then set it over a small fire to simmer slowly.
Now, as soon as he opened it, the rich aroma of chicken soup filled the cave. He scooped out a large bowl, full of tender drumstick meat, and brought it in front of Zachary.
“Have some,” he said gently.
