Sean loved the hustle and bustle. The father and son ran into each other halfway through. Sean tossed a fur bag onto Matthew’s shoulder, told him to send it to the cave, then turned around, dragging Lanny off to keep browsing.

That evening, Zachary prepared pie filling, gathered a bunch of ingredients, and went with Matthew and Jaden to Sean and Lanny’s place.

The moment Jaden poked his head in, Sean’s hearty voice rang out, “Jaden’s here!”

Lanny set aside what he was doing, his voice gentle and warm. “Is it hot out there? Are you tired?”

Sean added, “I traded for a lot of things today. See anything you like?”

Zachary followed them in and obediently greeted, “Hello, Alpha. Hello, Sire.”

Sean responded immediately, “It’s hot outside! Come in, come in.”

Lanny picked up a bamboo tube. “Zachary, this fruit tea is really good. Try some.”

Matthew stood at the back, carrying two large baskets, and couldn’t help but speak up, “There’s still a person here.”

Sean peeked over. “Just put the stuff on the table.”

Lanny smiled. “Thanks for the hard work.”

Matthew naturally went over to the stove to start prepping the ingredients. Zachary took charge of the cooking, while Jaden was responsible for teaching Sean and Lanny how to make the pie.

Sean and Lanny learned with great focus, while Jaden was super encouraging. The atmosphere was great.

Matthew glanced at his father’s questionable–looking pie and couldn’t help but feel sorry for the ingredients Zachary had worked so hard to prepare.

“Alpha, why don’t you come tend the fire?”

Sean shot him a sideways look. “I just started.”

“Give me a few more tries, and I might even be better than you.”

Working together, Zachary and Matthew filled the table with dishes. Then they cooked the dumplings and prepared a dipping sauce.

True to his word, Matthew scooped all the biggest, ugliest dumplings into Sean’s bowl. Piled together, they almost looked like flatbread.

Sean took one look and seized the opportunity. With his chopsticks, he pushed the ugly dumplings back into, Matthew’s bowl and picked out the prettier ones for himself.

Still, he was fairly kind. If it were Matthew and Jaden, Matthew would’ve found it too troublesome and simply swapped bowls outright.

After tasting Zachary’s cooking, Sean and Lanny were stunned. How could food taste this good? Every bite was pure enjoyment.

At that moment, in their eyes, Zachary seemed to be glowing.
