Chapter 52 The Second Night of Rain
Jaden kept staring at him, his eyes wide and unblinking. “Sire, the hot water is ready.”
Zachary grinned at him. “What is it? Why are you so cheerful?”
Jaden knew he had to be careful. Showing too much excitement could get Sire into trouble. He quickly shook his head and answered, “Nothing.”
When Zachary entered the washroom, Matthew was already there, leaning over the stone basin and rinsing
his face.
Zachary grabbed the small wooden stick used for cleaning teeth. After crushing the powder with a stone he mixed it with salt. This method was already much simpler than their previous one, though he still hoped to improve it if possible.
Matthew emptied the basin of cold water, then casually dipped out half a basin of warm water for him.
“Thank you.” Zachary still felt awkward about what had happened that morning and avoided meeting Matthew’s gaze.
Matthew only gave a low response. “Mm.”
Outside, the rain continued to fall relentlessly. Having been trapped in the cave all day, Zachary longed for the calm moments when he could sit at the entrance and enjoy the sunlight.
After the meal, he prepared a cup of tea with berries, raisins, and honey. Then, he sat by the fire, warming himself as he gazed silently into the flames.
He mused, Sigh-another day without my phone.
Whenever the weather turned like this, the longing to return to his old world always hit harder.
That afternoon, Zachary made another batch of honey lollipops. In this kind of weather, they would stay fresh for a long time. Matthew seemed to like them as well. The last one Zachary gave him had stayed in his hand for quite a while, as if he couldn’t bring himself to eat it.
By evening, unease had already started to creep into Zachary’s chest.
Before going to bed, he kept telling Matthew, “Ensure the door is securely closed tonight. If I knock during the night, do not open it, no matter what occurs.”
Matthew listened and nodded.
Zachary still wasn’t completely reassured. He dragged a large rock over and jammed it behind his bedroom door. The effort left him breathless.
Jaden watched with a worried look, his little face bunching up again. Did Alpha do something wrong last night and upset Sire? Is that why Sire doesn’t want to sleep with him now? Alpha is so tall and broad; maybe he crowds Sire
too much.
Zachary appeared too serious, so Jaden hesitated to ask anything. His eyes flicked nervously between them, filled with concern.

Chapter 52 The Second Night of Rain
Before getting into bed, Zachary checked the door and the rock again. Only after ensuring everything was in place did he finally lie down. He pulled the beast-hide blanket tightly around himself and stayed there stiffly, as straight as a board.
He was so tense that it was like he was getting ready for war. Every part of him stayed on alert.
Jaden gently peeked out from under the covers, blinking several times and looking worried. Ultimately, he could only exhale softly.
The night gradually deepened. Outside, the world stayed noisy under the rain and thunder. Inside the cave, silence slowly settled in.
Matthew lay flat on his back, fully awake.
No one knew how much time had passed before a noise emanated from the adjacent room. It resembled stone scraping along the floor. Shortly afterward, a sharp click was heard, followed by footsteps.
Jaden awoke drowsily and noticed Zachary’s back. Believing he was likely heading to the bathroom, Jaden remained silent and did not intervene.
Still half-conscious, Zachary made his way to Matthew’s door and pushed it open.
The door did not move.
He paused briefly, then started feeling the surface with both hands.
Matthew had already risen from bed and stood just behind the door. His raised hand lingered briefly in the air/before gradually descending to the cold stone wall.
A thunderclap echoed through the rain.
Zachary began trembling from head to toe. His movements turned frantic as he pawed at the door in a chaotic panic, his whole body shaking.
Matthew still remembered Zachary’s warning before sleep, and the internal struggle had finally reached its breaking point.
Then all the sounds outside the door suddenly stopped.
Matthew’s heart jumped. Did he go back?
He pulled the door open.
There was no one standing outside.
Something unknown and disturbing suddenly spread through his chest.
He was about to step out and look when his leg bumped into something soft. He immediately halted, almo tripping and falling forward.
In the darkness, Zachary crouched on the cold floor with his knees tucked to his chest, leaning against the stone wall.

Matthew quickly bent down and lightly touched hum “Zachary?
Those hazy eyes opened only a crack
Zachary swayed as he got to his feet, then turned and walked directly into Matthew’s room.
Matthew’s art lingered in the air for a moment. With no other option, he immediately went after him,
Building on the night before, Zachary moved with surprising ease this time. He went straight to the bed. pulled back the covers, crawled underneath, and rolled to the innermost side on his own.
That familiar warmth and scent enveloped him at once.
Zachary curled up and drifted into a deep sleep almost instantly.
At that moment, all of Matthew’s restraint shattered. He also got onto the bed. As soon as Zachary reached for him, Matthew instinctively covered him with his body.
Zachary’s cold feet unconsciously rubbed against Matthew’s calf, while his empty hands kept searching for something to hold.
Matthew gazed at that lovely, alluring face for a moment before lowering his head and covering it.
For a beast, licking and biting were the most natural ways of showing desire.
Therians hated the continuous rain, and the huge insects in the forest suffered just as much.
I woke almost at once.
Its swollen body led to intense torment, causing it to thrash inside its nest. Wet mud adhered to its skin, resulting in itchiness and frustration. Without hands or feet, the giant insect could only roll back and forth.
Finally, it discovered a narrow crack and forced its way in, desperately trying to ease its body’s pain through friction.
The rain poured continuously for two days and nights, washing away the soil above its nest entirely. With no cover left, the giant insect became completely soaked.
