I was not going to let him think I was clinging to him. A man like Dominic Ford, with his money and his face and the particular way he occupied a room, was not going to be short of options the moment I walked out that door. But then I snapped out of it and shook the thought out of my head. I would not assume to understand his actions. If he had something to say, he would say it. I had learned the hard way that reading too much into a man’s gestures was a fast track to disappointment.
