Chapter 180
KINGSLEY
The moment I stepped out of Seraphine’s house, I wiped my lips with the back of my hand, still feeling the ghost of her kiss on my skin.
I loathed her. I hated the way she looked at me like was dirt beneath her expensive heels, the way she spoke to me like I was nothing but a tool she could pick up and discard whenever it suited her. She was arrogant, full of herself, convinced that her beauty and her money made her untouchable.
And then there was Pat. Pat was different. She was mature, kind, and the kind of woman who made you want to be a better man just by existing in the same room as her.
I remembered the video Celeste had shown everyone at the lab, the one of Seraphine on her knees with Julian’s cock in her mouth, the way she had moaned and gagged and swallowed like she was born for it. I had been disgusted.
I knew exactly what kind of women Seraphine and Celeste were now. I had seen Celeste getting into that luxury car the previous day, the one that belonged to Dominic Ford. I knew cars. I knew that there were only three of that model in the entire world and the other two owners lived in different countries. So there was no doubt in my mind about Seraphine’s words. Celeste had climbed into Dominic’s bed and that was probably how she got the five billion funding.
It was embarrassing, really. All of it. The way Seraphine had spread her legs for Julian in that video, the way she had moaned and begged for his cum like a common whore. And then she had the audacity to act like she was something important, like she was above everyone else. I felt sad for Pat. I felt sad that Pat was caught in the middle of this mess, that Pat had to work alongside women like this every single day.
But I could not take any chances. I was waiting for my employment bonus, the one that was supposed to come next week. The money was important to me. I needed it. If Seraphine had given me two weeks, even one week, I could have delayed until I got the money and then resigned from Helix. I could have walked away clean. But the demoness had given me twenty-four hours. Twenty-four hours to destroy the one person at Helix who had been good to me.
From the moment I arrived at Helix, Pat had been like a light in the darkness. She gave me a soft landing. She was a decent woman. The way she looked at me, I knew without a doubt that she liked me. She was probably attracted to me, just like many other women at the lab. They all looked at me with longing, but I had mostly interacted with Pat. I liked the kind of person she was, and I was not the type of man who used women to get ahead. I never had been.
I hated what I was about to do.
When I went back to Helix that day, I could not focus. I kept thinking about what Seraphine had asked of me, what she had threatened if I did not deliver. Pat spent a long time in Celeste’s office. When she finally came out, she looked happy. She was smiling. And then she looked at me, and I saw it again. That softness in her eyes, that warmth. She came over to my desk and asked, “Kingsley, is something wrong? You look unhappy.”

That night, at home, I sat in the darkness of my apartment and stared at the small camera in my hands. I turned it over and over, feeling the weight of it, the weight of what I was about to do. “I am sorry, Pat,” I said to the empty room, my voice barely a whisper. “I am really very sorry, I hope you can forgive me for what I am about to do.”

The readers' comments on the novel: Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic)
Agent Frost better teach Tasha how to protect herself if anything gets out of hand or if she’s ever in danger or forced again...
I need some good news for Tasha. Special Agent hear her out and don’t let her get back into that life. Do I hear a romance or someone Tasha can truly count on besides Scarlett??...
I hope Tasha is let off and helped by this detective and gets away from all this maybe a twist for this novel is she gets on the good side of things and gets away from that life completely even if she has to separate herself from Scarlett but it appears Tasha gets hurt by Scarlett’s and sparrow’s stupidity as she’s blamed for Scarlett’s decisions...
Her life is ruined and Scarlett’s been living a luxurious life through it all...
I officially hate everyone for hurting Tasha and allowing things to happen to her. This whole Sparrow and Scarlett situation is some BS....
It’s a bit stupid that as powerful and ruthless sparrow is he and Scarlett sure do a lousy job of protecting and having guard on Tasha. Like how did all of this happen to her if he was supposed to be protecting her based on the contract??...
More Chapters Please...
I thought it said 10 chapters a day??? It’s been like 2-3 days and no update after chapter 574. The release time is so inconsistent, I have started to just loose interest....
Just find Tasha and get her some help. How did she have sparrow’s men watching her if she really cared so much. Scarlett’s character is so suspect…...
Storyline is interesting it’s just so much sexual content I have to skip through just find out the main context of the story....
