Chapter 192

DOMINIC

Celeste blinked several times in surprise, her eyes wide, her lips parting as though my voice had shocked her. “What?”

“I know. I have felt this way probably since this whole affair began. I wanted to tell you but a part of the was scared because you are still married to Julian. I did not know how you would take it. I feared it would upset you. But after your confession earlier, you gave me the boldness.”

I took a breath, my heart hammering against my ribs. “Celeste. Almost two years ago, when I saw you in that bar, I felt a deep attraction to you, a very deep connection. I was really hoping to hit things up with you. But then Seraphine came instead and you walked out of the bar.

I figured you were not interested, and that maybe I had imagined the look I saw in your eyes. And back then I had to get married to fit the identity I needed at the time, so since Seraphine was available, I just married her and tried to forget about you.

But the truth is that I felt strongly toward you from the first time. And then at Rosewood Resort, when we began the affair, it felt like what was bound to happen from the start, finally happened.”

She was staring at me, her eyes glistening, her lips trembling slightly.

“I have been intensely drawn to you since then, Celeste. I never planned for this to happen. I never planned to feel this way. But I am so crazy about you. I want you, not just today, but for as long as there’s breath in me.

I know our foundation is not ideal. But we can start again, right? Let us start over, Celeste.”

We stared at each other for a long moment, the air between us charged with something electric and undeniable. And then I crashed my lips against hers.

The kiss was different from every kiss we had shared before. It was not hungry or desperate or driven by the need to claim and consume. It was slow and deep and reverent, my mouth moving against hers like I was memorizing the shape of her, the taste of her, the way she sighed into me when my tongue traced the seam of her lips.

She opened for me, her tongue meeting mine in a dance that was unhurried and deliberate, and I telt her hands slide up my chest, her fingers curling into the fabric of the shirt I had put on while she showered.

I walked us backward toward the bed, my lips never leaving hers, my hands finding the hem of the shirt she was wearing I pulled it up slowly, my knuckles brushing against her thighs, her hips, her ribs, until the fabric was bunched under her arms and she lifted them to let me pull it over her head. The shirt fell to the floor and she stood before me naked, her skin glowing in the soft light of the bedroom, her breasts rising and falling with each breath she took.
