Chapter 351
I pulled out my phone and thought about calling Dominic, asking him to bring me a change of clothes, a toothbrush, food. Then I put the phone away. He had already done so much. He had planned the proposal, the garden, the whole perfect evening, and I had abandoned it the moment it ended. Guilt sat heavy in my chest next to the hunger, and I could not tell which one was louder.
And then my eyes landed on the ring.
The stones caught the low light and threw it back in a dozen tiny sparks, and I smiled in spite of myself. The memory of him sinking to one knee, of us running through the garden like teenagers, of his mouth on mine, came rushing back so fast that I laughed, a sharp sound that bounced off the hospital walls. I clamped a hand over my mouth and glanced at Pat. Still asleep. Good.
I made a decision there in that chair. The moment Dominic returned, I would ask him to wait, just long enough for me to run out and buy what I needed. Then I would come back, escort him out, say goodnight to him, and spend the night with Pat.
Almost an hour passed. My eyelids grew heavier with every breath Pat took, and I was hovering on the edge of sleep when a soft knock came at the door. I turned, and Dominic pushed it open, his arms loaded with bags.
“Dominic!” I was on my feet before I knew I had moved.
He had changed completely. The proposal suit was gone. He wore a soft grey hoodie over a white t-shirt, loose black joggers, and sneakers, and his hair was still damp, curling at the ends, unmistakable evidence of a shower. He looked so comfortable, so domestic, that my heart did a slow somersault in my chest.
“You clean up well, handsome.” I took some of the bags from his arms and set them down.
“But of course.” He grinned. “I have to keep impressing a certain someone.”
I shook my head, smiling, and peered into the bags. Then I went still.
Clothes. My favorite sleeping pants and the oversized t-shirt I wore to bed every night. Underwear, several pairs, the ones he knew I liked. A toothbrush still in its packaging. Toothpaste, My body lotion. My body oil. Everything I would have grabbed if I had been home, and I had not said a word to him about any of it.
And then there was the food. Still hot enough that the lid had fogged with condensation, and the smell hit me like a wall. My stomach let out an audible growl.
I stared at the food, then at him. “How did you know?”
“Don’t give me that look.” He busied himself with the bags. “I have eyes. Now have your dinner, then freshen up. You will feel so much better afterward.”
I stared at him, this man who had known me for such a short time and somehow knew me better than people who had known me for years. My favorite sleeping clothes. My favorite dinner. How was it possible for him to be so awesome?
“Are you feeling really impressed?” He tilted his head, a smirk tugging at his mouth.
I blinked. “Huh?”
“You are probably thinking that the first day we kissed was the best day of your life, right?”
I laughed, a real laugh, and I did not tell him that he was absolutely right. That kiss in that resort… the one that had started all of this, had been the beginning of the best days of my life. A kiss I would treasure forever.

He set up a small tray for me, opened the container, arranged the food like he had done it a thousand times. I sat down and took the first bite, and it was perfect, warm and rich, exactly what I needed.
“Join me,” I said around a mouthful.
“I already ate, before getting ready for the proposal.” He settled into the chair across from me. “I am not hungry.”
So he sat there, watching me eat, his eyes warm and steady on my face, and I ate faster than I meant to, suddenly self-conscious, suddenly aware of how I must look, gulping down food in a hospital room in my rumpled dress with his cum dried between my thighs.

The readers' comments on the novel: Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic)
Agent Frost better teach Tasha how to protect herself if anything gets out of hand or if she’s ever in danger or forced again...
I need some good news for Tasha. Special Agent hear her out and don’t let her get back into that life. Do I hear a romance or someone Tasha can truly count on besides Scarlett??...
I hope Tasha is let off and helped by this detective and gets away from all this maybe a twist for this novel is she gets on the good side of things and gets away from that life completely even if she has to separate herself from Scarlett but it appears Tasha gets hurt by Scarlett’s and sparrow’s stupidity as she’s blamed for Scarlett’s decisions...
Her life is ruined and Scarlett’s been living a luxurious life through it all...
I officially hate everyone for hurting Tasha and allowing things to happen to her. This whole Sparrow and Scarlett situation is some BS....
It’s a bit stupid that as powerful and ruthless sparrow is he and Scarlett sure do a lousy job of protecting and having guard on Tasha. Like how did all of this happen to her if he was supposed to be protecting her based on the contract??...
More Chapters Please...
I thought it said 10 chapters a day??? It’s been like 2-3 days and no update after chapter 574. The release time is so inconsistent, I have started to just loose interest....
Just find Tasha and get her some help. How did she have sparrow’s men watching her if she really cared so much. Scarlett’s character is so suspect…...
Storyline is interesting it’s just so much sexual content I have to skip through just find out the main context of the story....
