I stood there in the dark, breathing hard, and I wanted to hunt him down to the ends of the earth. But I had a mask on, and a compound full of girls who needed me, and I had made a promise to myself about the helpless.
"Find him," I ordered my men. "Bring me his head. He cannot have gone far."
Then I had the rest of my men round up the girls. There were seventy two of them in that building, all of them young, and I did not think there was a single one over twenty five. They were brought to me one by one, and I injected each of them with the antidote, and many of them struggled, fought, screamed, because they did not know what I was giving them. Some of them had given up on living entirely, and they did not fight at all, just stood there with dead eyes while I pressed the needle into their arms.
Only when I had injected all seventy two did I explain. "You were poisoned. Hemovax, a slow poison that kept you compliant. The monthly check-ups, the doses, they were never medicine. The injection you just received is the antidote. You are free of it now."
Then I had my men share the money we found in Bryan's room. Millions in cash, divided among all of them.
I gave them a short speech. "Learn to be strong. Learn to defend yourselves, so that no one will ever force you to live a life you do not want. You are free to go and do much better things with your lives."
Many of them broke down. They cried, and they got on their knees, and they thanked me, and I found the crying and the kneeling and the gratitude irritating, so I turned and left.
At the safe house, my men returned with bad news. They had combed the city, and they could not find Bryan.
I stood at the window for a long time, and then I put a prize on his head. "One billion," I said. "To whoever brings me Big Bryan, or leads me to him. Spread the word."
I went home that night, back to the fortress, and the house was quiet, everyone in bed. I was exhausted, more exhausted than I had been in years, and I took a quick shower and got into bed.
I let her hold me for a second. Then I pushed her away gently, and I made my voice flat. "Focus on getting your niece ready for the wedding tomorrow."
She nodded, and there were tears in her eyes, and she thanked me again, her voice thick.
Later, when I was about to leave, the other three girls came over, and they all thanked me, one after another.
"We are leaving after the wedding," Maya said. Jasmine nodded beside her.

The readers' comments on the novel: Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic)
Agent Frost better teach Tasha how to protect herself if anything gets out of hand or if she’s ever in danger or forced again...
I need some good news for Tasha. Special Agent hear her out and don’t let her get back into that life. Do I hear a romance or someone Tasha can truly count on besides Scarlett??...
I hope Tasha is let off and helped by this detective and gets away from all this maybe a twist for this novel is she gets on the good side of things and gets away from that life completely even if she has to separate herself from Scarlett but it appears Tasha gets hurt by Scarlett’s and sparrow’s stupidity as she’s blamed for Scarlett’s decisions...
Her life is ruined and Scarlett’s been living a luxurious life through it all...
I officially hate everyone for hurting Tasha and allowing things to happen to her. This whole Sparrow and Scarlett situation is some BS....
It’s a bit stupid that as powerful and ruthless sparrow is he and Scarlett sure do a lousy job of protecting and having guard on Tasha. Like how did all of this happen to her if he was supposed to be protecting her based on the contract??...
More Chapters Please...
I thought it said 10 chapters a day??? It’s been like 2-3 days and no update after chapter 574. The release time is so inconsistent, I have started to just loose interest....
Just find Tasha and get her some help. How did she have sparrow’s men watching her if she really cared so much. Scarlett’s character is so suspect…...
Storyline is interesting it’s just so much sexual content I have to skip through just find out the main context of the story....
