"The Castro family. I do not want them to exist again after tomorrow. Every one of their accomplices, everyone who helped them destroy Celeste's family in the past, no one should be spared."
I pressed my back against the wall.
"People like that must have committed other crimes. Find whatever you can and send them to prison. Nothing should be left of their families. And as for Castro and his son, I want them to suffer miserably, until they are begging for death in prison."
There was a pause. Then, "I am willing to pay any amount to facilitate this, Sparrow."
Another pause, shorter. "In that case, I will be waiting for the good news."
The call ended. I stood in the dimly lit hallway with my back to the wall, listening to the silence, and I did not know whether to laugh or cry. In a few minutes. In a handful of minutes he had found out everything, the whole poisoned history of my family, and he had taken my revenge as his own without me ever saying a word. I had spent years learning to let it go. He had spent minutes deciding to burn it down.
Men like this existed. Men who would burn the world for the woman they loved. And I had found the best one. I had found him by accident, in the wreckage of my marriage, and he was real, and he was mine, and I still could not quite believe it.
I nodded. "I promise."
"Always remember." He said it slowly, like he was carving it into stone. "Your problem is my problem. Your fight is my fight. Your family is my family. And Celeste, for you, I can do anything."
Tears dropped from my eyes. I had thought I was empty, but there was always more, and they came again, quiet this time, but he wiped them with his thumbs, kissed my forehead, and pulled me into his arms, a warm, whole embrace, and I stood there in the dark with his heart beating under my ear.

I hope Tasha is let off and helped by this detective and gets away from all this maybe a twist for this novel is she gets on the good side of things and gets away from that life completely even if she has to separate herself from Scarlett but it appears Tasha gets hurt by Scarlett’s and sparrow’s stupidity as she’s blamed for Scarlett’s decisions...
Her life is ruined and Scarlett’s been living a luxurious life through it all...
I officially hate everyone for hurting Tasha and allowing things to happen to her. This whole Sparrow and Scarlett situation is some BS....
It’s a bit stupid that as powerful and ruthless sparrow is he and Scarlett sure do a lousy job of protecting and having guard on Tasha. Like how did all of this happen to her if he was supposed to be protecting her based on the contract??...
