The house was still mine, for now. But Emerson knew this address, and he could send someone here at any moment. I dashed inside, grabbed a bag, and stuffed it with as many clothes, shoes, bags, and wigs as I could fit, along with my makeup box. I found twenty thousand in cash in the drawer where I always kept it, took it, and rushed back out. I was starving, but food would have to wait.
I checked into a motel on the edge of town, paid for a room, and locked the door behind me. Then, and only then, did I let myself breathe. I took a long bath, scrubbing the boat and the alley and the old man off my skin, and then I dressed, doing my hair and makeup until I looked like the woman I used to be. I went to a small restaurant where Emerson's people would never think to look for me, and I ate until my stomach remembered what full felt like. Then I swallowed two of my happy pills and left.
I bought a new phone, went to the mobile company, and retrieved my number. Then I went to the bank. I wanted to make sure they had held on to my money. I did not want to believe that Emerson had truly taken it. Unfortunately for me, the bank confirmed it. There was not a single dime left in my account. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I stood at the counter, and asked the banker how they could have approved billions being transferred from my account just like that.
The lady looked at me with careful patience. "There is no record of billions ever entering your account, ma'am."
I stared at her. "No. I had five billion at first, and then..."
She cut me off gently. "Are you sure you're okay, ma'am? Because I'm looking at the complete transaction history for this account. There is no record of a five-billion-dollar deposit, or a one-billion-dollar deposit. There are no transactions anywhere close to that amount.
Yes, millions were transferred out recently. But those transactions were authorized using the information we had on file."
I could not believe what I was hearing. I walked out of the bank and back to the motel, my mind spinning through every credit alert I had ever seen, every time I had checked my balance and seen all those zeros, everything I had done to earn that money. Was I losing my mind? I cursed Emerson under my breath, and decided to look him up again on social media. The man who came up was not the Emerson I knew.

The readers' comments on the novel: Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic)
Agent Frost better teach Tasha how to protect herself if anything gets out of hand or if she’s ever in danger or forced again...
I need some good news for Tasha. Special Agent hear her out and don’t let her get back into that life. Do I hear a romance or someone Tasha can truly count on besides Scarlett??...
I hope Tasha is let off and helped by this detective and gets away from all this maybe a twist for this novel is she gets on the good side of things and gets away from that life completely even if she has to separate herself from Scarlett but it appears Tasha gets hurt by Scarlett’s and sparrow’s stupidity as she’s blamed for Scarlett’s decisions...
Her life is ruined and Scarlett’s been living a luxurious life through it all...
I officially hate everyone for hurting Tasha and allowing things to happen to her. This whole Sparrow and Scarlett situation is some BS....
It’s a bit stupid that as powerful and ruthless sparrow is he and Scarlett sure do a lousy job of protecting and having guard on Tasha. Like how did all of this happen to her if he was supposed to be protecting her based on the contract??...
More Chapters Please...
I thought it said 10 chapters a day??? It’s been like 2-3 days and no update after chapter 574. The release time is so inconsistent, I have started to just loose interest....
Just find Tasha and get her some help. How did she have sparrow’s men watching her if she really cared so much. Scarlett’s character is so suspect…...
Storyline is interesting it’s just so much sexual content I have to skip through just find out the main context of the story....
